COI on GRC software

[edit]

Hello. I saw you removed the speedy deletion tag from Arambankudyil Consultancy. It seems like you have a connection to the GRC software that Arambankudyil Consultancy produces, is that correct? You have only been editing pages on GRC software since 2017.--- Possibly (talk) 06:22, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Possibly. I believe I have significant experience in the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) area! However I do not have any affiliation or get paid in any from Arambankudyil Consultancy. I created a page List of GRC Software to capture the open source software and the commercial software. There were 3 companies that created open source and I had contacted them so that they will create their own pages. However, Arambankudyil Consultancy created their page after so many years. I know this is a legitimate company so please use Arambankudyil Consultancy talk to help them improve the page rather than delete. Thanks! - Mathayi2000 (talk) 08:17, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on GRC Envelop, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. -- Asartea Talk | Contribs 09:43, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This page got deleted before I could contest. Its a pity that people remove information about opensource projects that are completely free. Its appalling --Mathayi2000 (talk) 09:11, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article List of GRC Software has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced, appears to have been created solely as a way to advertise a specific product.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Asartea Talk | Contribs 09:49, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Asartea. I do not have any affiliation to any commercial vendor of GRC software. I have significant experience in IT and specifically GRC domain. Therefore I have attempted to compile a page List of GRC Software for both open source and commercial. There are numerous pages for different software categories; here is one List of ERP software packages. I’m curious to know why you would consider this page not to standards of Wikipedia. Any suggestions would be appreciated. - Mathayi2000 (talk) 08:32, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mathayi2000. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to GRC Envelop, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Mathayi2000. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Mathayi2000|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. -- Asartea Talk | Contribs 09:54, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I did ask the company Arambankudyil Consultancy to create their pages to give legitimacy to the GRC Envelop page (which is now removed). The GRC Envelop was one of the open source software that was listed on List_of_GRC_software page (which was also deleted). I don't know User:Renil36 is nor have I created this user. I understand that its difficult to for you to understand because the close circumstances in which these pages were created / edited. I'm not going to request with an unblock, but I would like you to know it was a genuine attempt to improve Wikipedia. Mathayi2000 (talk) 06:26, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your information. Please read out policy on promotion. Wikipedia is not the place to give legitimacy to something. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 06:51, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
