External links, WP:EL

[edit]

Please stop adding external links to wikipedia and observe WP:EL. If something is missing in the article you may add it and use the link as reference/source, however you should also observe WP:MEDRS. Finally, take your time to get acquainted with wikipedia. Richiez (talk) 20:06, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your recent additions to the external links sections of AIDS and HIV. While it is good to see editors take an interest in the Wikipedia project, your list of contributions -- all links to an external website -- give the appearance of self-promotion rather than a genuine interest in improving articles. As Richiez noted above, we do have policies regarding the use of external links. Please take some time to review these polices. Thank you for understanding. Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.-gadfium 23:17, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 h for continually adding links that are not appropriate per WP:ELNO. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. If you like organizing external links I recommend you try DMOZ. Cheers --Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:32, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please get consensus here WT:MED before adding further external links. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 22:09, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
