Backstreet Boys Discography

[edit]

Your edits to this have been reversed again. This is because you are using sources that are not allowed to be used in wikipedia. These are called wikipedia clones, and the facts originate from wikipedia, and are not verified source. Please also read the 5 pillars of wikipedia, so that you get an understanding of how wikipedia works. This is based on verified sources, and not what someone believes. If you can find a source that says the data you mention (and NOT a clone) then it can be changed. Otherwise it is opinion only. Also note that you are NOT allowed to remove sourced material unless youhave a better verified source, and you are NOT allowed to put personal references into wikipedia as you have done. As for the data do keep changing, It is noteven plausable. The album sold 15 million up to end of 2001, and from Sound Scan figures it has been a slow seller since. BSB is mostly a US sales market nowdays, so maximum is that it has sold another 1 - 2 million, not 9 million. This would make it a top seller neary every year. Not plausable. Not true. 59.124.99.83 00:31, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of best-selling albums worldwide

[edit]

I have reversed your edit for 'Millennium' reaching 40m in sales. My reason is as I have written in the discussion page, as all other references say 30m, and this is the only one that says 40m. Also, although it is reported to come from a BSB member, still does not make it credible. John Lennon once said 'we are more popular than Jesus Christ' ... that doesn't make it true. There is also a dispute that it has even sold 30m, as adding up all the creditations, only comes to 20m. Therefore the figure should probably be lower than 30m, but certainly not higher. 60.234.242.196 21:13, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not amend referenced data. This has been discussed and the details are of concensus. Hello. I reversed your edits, only because of the revert war, and that due to this, more references are required to show the true concensus of the figures. The references you added are still the same ones you have been told not to use of the reasons already given. If you wish to be a good editor, please improve the articles, not make them less reliable. I have reversed one of the links you provided, as it stated 28m for all sales, not just the one album. The other link is however credible, and have left it there. 60.234.242.196 21:13, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Millennium Sales

[edit]

You have noted that the 30 million figure is from 1999, and are making an assumption that as it is now 2007, they must have sold another 10 million, matching the reference you found. But this is an assumption, and these are not allowed on wikipedia. I have already mentioned that the link you have found which states 40 million is also non credible, when compared to all others. I will also attempt to show you that their sales have not been good over the past 6 years, and hope you will learn from this and stop re-editing on your beliefs. Millennium and BSB was a major hit in the USA, and it counted for 40% of global sales, so let us use the US market as an example: In December 1999 Millennium had sold 9.4 million [1]. By end of 2000, this was 11.7m [2]. By end of 2001, this was 12.0 million [3], and they were awarded 13 x Platinum even though they sold only 12 million. By end of 2003 it was 12.06 million [4]. By the end of 2006 it was 12.1 million [5]. Therefore in their biggest market they have sold only 0.4 million in the past 6 years. In the past 5 years after their last creditation in 2001 they have sold only 0.1 million. I am hoping that you can now see that the data makes it totally impossible for another 10 million to be sold, thus 30m is the best figure to use, and it is referenced so often by all sources. 60.234.242.196 10:25, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Black & Blue sales

[edit]

Once again, the data is incorrect. You have referenced 3 sites that are quoting the same source, and as said before, these are forums where the data is disputed. Therefore before changing again, please actually reseach. As I have shown, 30 million is a credible figure for Millennium. Although some say this figure is also inflated. So, let us look at sales figures compared to Millenium. In the USA - the biggest market, Black & Blue sold only 60% of the sales for Millennium [6]. In the 2nd biggest market of the UK, Black & Blue sold only 100,000 copies [7]. This is 30% of what Millenium achieved [8]. Look at Germany, another stronghold for BSB, Millenium sold 200,000 under Roughtrade label, and 300,000 under Zomba label [9], whereas Black and Blue sold 200,000 only [10] = 40%. Another one - Australia. Millennium sold 210,000 whereas Black and Blue sold 70,000 [11]. Again, 30%. You can see that sales for Black & Blue would be closer to 50% of Millennium NOT 80% as your figure of 24 million suggests. I have therefore reverted it. 60.234.242.196 10:50, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

refer kmnmo talk page. This User created this page on ukmix then linked to it as you have done. He copied the existing list on ukmix and increased sales data for BSB to suit his agenda. This has already been discussed, but will add this the the discussion page to prevent it being used again. 60.234.242.196 21:12, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have repeately informed you that you cannot use wikipedia clones as a source. I have also told you that the previous links supplied are worthless as they are non credible. And I have shown from actual sales that the data is NOT correct. Please refrain from using wikipedia as an experiment and pleade follow the 5 pillars of wikipedia. The aim is to have content verified and reliable. Continuous fake edits damage the credibility of wikipedia. Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Please make yourself aware of WP:AN/3RR which means that if you keep reverting for more than 3 times, you can be blocked. So far under ýou have exceeded this many times over, but you do not appear to be aware of this policy. I am therefore bringing it to your attention. Maggott2000 18:54, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have done an additional 3 reversals since being told of this policy. Time has come to stop this. Maggott2000 19:41, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop reverting. I have informed you on many occassions that the links you are referencing are not valid, as has been mentioned also in the actual articles on the albums also. So I will repeat myself so that it is recorded. Your link for Backstreet Back sales is a wiki clone. Policy says you cannot use this. Your reference for Black and Blue is a forum. Again cannot be used as per wikipedia policy. I have also told you that the majority of sites say the much lower figure - this is consensus. If most sites state one figure, and you find one link that says differently, does NOT mean it is true. Concensus is on what majority say. I have also put in the individual album articla pages (discussion) how impossible it is for these figures you quote to be real. Your only arguement is that the links I provide (many vs your one) is that the data is old. I have also proven that the sales have not been good for these albums since their initial release. Yet you continue to ignore all the above. Please be a good editor and acknowledge that you are in fact mistaken, misguided, and can provide no proof or any verifiable link. Backstreet Boys sales

[edit]

As is explained in the discography page for the Backstreet Boys, the album you wrote to me about was effectively the same as their first. So the total sales of the two combined are over 30 million (or around 30 million), not any one of them separately.UberCryxic 17:20, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They've sold 30 million together though, not separately.UberCryxic 17:59, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
