My apologies

[edit]

Hi, with reference to your message, please accept my apologies. I have myself removed the information now after doing some research. As you may know, Wikipedia is vandalised by several people - most of them unregistered users, identifiable only by an IP address. To reduce this damage, a band of several volunteers including me go on what is called a recent changes patrol and undo suspicious looking edits authored mostly by anonymous users. It was a mistake from my end in your case. One good way to signal your intent to RC patrollers is by simply using edit summaries. Keep up the good work. --Gurubrahma 10:23, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

With regards to your comments on Talk:Infantry (computer game): [1][2] Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks will lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Not when the user is the problem, Philosophus. Mokkan88 20:01, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The appropiate instruments for this are user conduct RfCs, mediation, and RFAr, see Category:Wikipedia dispute resolution -- not personal attacks.
In case suspected abuse of sock puppets, you may want to use Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets or ultimately Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser.

Removing images

[edit]

What is exactly the problem with these population pyramids images? I mean: socket puppetry of the author is not a reason. -- Basilicofresco (msg) 07:01, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at the images I'm removing, you'll see that they each use what I can only assume is an intentionally incorrect scaling system. Here is an example on such an image for the Gaza Strip. This user created far too many malicious entries for me to deal with, but I figured I'd at least take care of the population pyramids. Mokkan88 (talk) 07:09, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Population Age Distribution Graph

[edit]

The age distribution graph is excellent. Thank you so much for putting this together. I suggest, though, that it might be even more helpful if the x-axis showed percentage of population rather than absolute population. I think it will be a significant enhancement. Thank you for all of your work on this. Kklipple (talk) 15:35, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, but all I did was save and re-upload an image generated by the U.S. Census Bureau. You can find that website here. Mokkan88 (talk) 18:47, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not a sock puppet

[edit]

I updated it...and I'm not a sockpuppet (after educating myself on what one was) User:Xhable, often never bother logging in, probably cause of thinking I was one. —Preceding undated comment added 21:49, 24 February 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Not sure who you are, but the sockpuppet was Anwar saadat. He was blocked some time ago, but his files were still in use.  Mokkan88  (?) 23:11, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Population pyramids

[edit]

Mokkan88, why did you "remove sockpuppet image" from Demographics of Pakistan (Pak.pop.pramid.2005.jpg) and Demographics of Bangladesh (Bangla.pop.pramid.2005.jpg)? Was there something wrong with them? AWhiteC (talk) 23:57, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. As I stated in an above thread, the population pyramids were incorrectly labeled. The user responsible was determined to be a sock puppet some time ago, and that particular user had upwards of twenty confirmed sockpuppet accounts. I suspect the errors were intentional, but in any case they were still errors so I opted to remove them.  Mokkan88  (?) 00:15, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
