prod'd nn mall articles

I saw that you've merged one of the article's I've prod'd following the AFD on Greengate Mall. In case you were wondering, the others I prod'd at the same time (smallish batch incase they were all de-prod'd and I would have to post them at AFD) were:

• Kyova Mall
• East Lake Square Mall
• Eastland Mall (Bloomington, Illinois)
• Crossroads Mall
• Columbus Square Mall
• Beloit Plaza

I've listed these here in case you want to de-prod them (I'll take them to AFD, but that's no guarentee that they'll go) or merge them with placename articles (they may get merged by the AFD recommendation anyway). You don't have to do anything, it's more an fyi. There is one mall in that list that's still open, but I thought it nn so I prod'd it, not sure if that interests you at all. San Diego, San Antonio

Moreau, regarding your request for a source from User:66.74.215.225:

On San Diego, a source[1] is given for a January 2005 San Diego population estimate that is higher than the Census Bureau's July 2005 estimate for San Antonio. However, this source is from a planning agency. My opinion is that we at Wikipedia should defer to U.S. Census Bureau's estimate over a regional planning agency. I think the San Diego article should reflect this preference too. At the very least, we should use a consistent source for the template (U.S. Census Bureau). I'd like to hear your thoughts.

On a related note, I do you know of any Wikipedia standard that addresses using the most standard source available. That is, use population estimates from the Census Bureau, weather data from a weather bureau (instead of somebody's idea of what the weather was like (e.g. New Englanders often tell me that "it was 95 degrees with 100% humidity" when it was really 89 F, with 52% humidity). Is Bellevue really a Suburb of Seattle?

Hi, I think this might be worth some discussion on the talk pages of both the Seattle and the Bellevue entries. I am curious why you think Bellevue is a suburb of Seattle. It is listed on wiki as being the 5th largest city in WA. Even on the Bellevue page there is not a single mention of it being a suburb of Seattle. Where are the attacking words in "It is not customary to state the incorporated/unincorporated status along with 'town'; the word 'town' already suggests incorporation, and this is explicitly stated in the second sentence"? List of cities in the United States

My edit to California was not an experiment. The list contains only the more important cities of each state. However, California appeared to have many smaller cities in the list- a few under 5,000 pop. So, I tried to narrow the list down to the cities with the larger populations. Do you still disagree? • I completely agree with you. Top 15 cities by population for each state seems fine. If the state capital isn't in that list, I think it should be added along with any other cities that have some extremely important significance like Alexandria, Virginia which is technically a county. Places like Hawaii can just list their most important cities, no more than 20. --TinMan 22:22, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

I don't want to seem rude about this issue, but the main page List of cities in California is intended for all incorperated cities in the state. The List of cities in the United States page lists only the larger ones. If you look at all other state sections, they don't have every city in the list. However, there is a link if you wanted to see all of them. Because California is the largest population-wise, it should probably have more listed than many other states, (New York has more listed than Montana) but not all listed. Spring Valley CDP

I noticed that you made some edits on Spring Valley, California noting that it was once a larger community before the creation of the La Presa CDP. I have proposed that Spring Valley and La Presa be merged and would like your opinion. Also, what is your opinion of calling communities CDPs? I don't like it because the CDPs often divide communities that have a cohesive identity. Cases in point, see the articles on Bostonia, California and Granite Hills, California. Spring Valley is also a case in point as La Presa is usually considered part of Spring Valley. Also, I think reducing communities to a three-letter acronym is somewhat degrading. I am preparing to propose a project to clean up the articles on unincorporated communities and make sure that community identities are intact. Rsduhamel 20:40, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

I haven't hear about any others, but I had current data so I contributed it. Let's hope that natives of other cities chip in...I get the Post so I read this article when it came out, and checked DC's rank on the Wikipedia list.

I have a question. Explain your reasoning on why you relinked Dave Schawrtz and Warren Madden? The reason why most OCM articles were redirected to The Weather Channel was to prevent these articles from being recreated. This was partially discussed on TWC's article page. The reason for the delinked was to avoid redirects, although I see that you added the prod. templates on the articles (which I totally agree with). see: Talk:The Weather Channel/Archive 1.

Thank you. Without bothering to research, i think i can say that you've found a bug in my routine procedures! I was trying to remedy the situation of an LoPbn entry for a rdr to a non-bio, which is in effect (& in fact, once the Rdr bypassers get around to it) an LoPbN entry for a non-bio. When i find a red lk on LoPbn, i check to see if it was added w/out an article, or (a common occurence) an article was deleted w/o eliminating lks to it. I think i have heard of "preemptive rdrs" (as i'd call them) before, but never thot about them enuf to realize i should also check for deletion with cases like these. If i'd picked up on the deletion, i'd have taken it as an indication of n-n where i wanted to avoid undertaking a first-hand evalutation, and simply removed the entry w/o any thot of converting the rdr to a stub. I did another like it in the same sitting, and i'll go check to see if i need to clean that one up as you did with this. Tnx again!

(hoping that the otherwise irrelevant colon would keep bots from bypassing the Rdr, and with more information than is useful for nav'n on LoPbN) using, a template that linked to the title's What-links-here and history pages, the rdr target, and any AfD page for them. If someone ever questioned that status (explicitly on the talk page or implicitly by changing the lk to a stub), a section could go on the talk, with the ex'g entry getting a lk to the talk section (and probably indentation via * instead of :). I would use this WP: project-space page to periodically find the ones that improperly appear on LoPbN, and i think the whole process would benefit from the enhanced ability to

track the reasons underlying standing or reversed changes in the case one is interested in, and

compare and contrast to previous cases in search of relevant precedents.

And i'd then limit the comments on LoPbN (where the name would have gone) to references to the project-page, and to cases where someone adds or restores such a lk after it's been listed there or removed from LoPbN.

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!) Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach. Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. What should we do with Bruce Edwards under the former OCMs list?

To be a bit more serious this time, someone put Bruce Edwards under the former OCMs section under the "E" last name; however, Bruce Edwards Kalinowski is already listed under the "K" last names. I wonder, where does it belong better? While his last name is Kalinowski, he did go by Edwards during his entire TWC tenure. --Spring Rubber 04:40, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
