Re Montana athletes

[edit]

A couple of things here. Only the excess information on Levi Leipheimer was deleted from the list. This is a list article, and a summary one at that. It is only necessary to characterize each individual with a couple of lines of information as presumably all the detailed information is contained in the main article on the individual. If it isn't there, then that's where you should add it, not in the list. In the case of Dave Silk, the issue isn't that he is what you say or the sources say he is, the issue that there is no Wikipedia article on Dave Silk as of yet, thus he is non-notable for the purposes of this list. If in fact you have sufficient information to write an article on Dave Silk, I would encourage you to do so. Once the article exists, he can be added to the athlete's list. We try to avoid Red Links in these types of lists because they tend to encourage the inclusion of just anyone that someone thinks should be in the list. If there is an article on the individual then we know they are notable.

As I said above, you'll note that this is a summary list, and the main Montana athlete's list is at List of athletes from Montana and that's really where new entries should go.

This comment You are new to Bozeman, but you don't have any well-established, longtime knowledge of our community members. I grew up with these kids, and trained with them. indicated to me that you have a lot to learn about how WP works. It's is not about what anyone knows or has experienced, it is about what the sources say and what is notable by WP standards. I don't doubt that the content you added is reliably sourced, it just isn't the right place. Write the article on Silk first. --Mike Cline (talk) 04:36, 13 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Mtmsquared, I don't know if you saw my comment on Mike Cline's talk page, but I wrote that article on your man Dave Silk, so it's a blue link now. As a Dutchman, I appreciate any coverage for speed skaters. Take care, Drmies (talk) 06:15, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Per a report at WP:AN3 (permalink). You left this threat for User:Wuerzele on 28 March: "I will then need to report your unprofessional actions to your supervisors and colleagues."
