You should consider arbitration as a means of resolving the Heavy Metal Fashion edit war

I saw that you were blocked - due to reverts on article Heavy Metal Fashion. You should consider Arbitration for the matter, since the edit war involves multiple editors. No consensus has been reached nor one will be reached in the foreseeable future. For requests, goto: Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration. Hope that the edit war is resolved. connor.carey (talk) 00:57, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks and bye

Just wanted to thank you for making me feel at home when I post stuff, even when it's wrong. On your page, you come off as being arogant and unnapproachable but you are actually an awesome and freindly editor, as you have helped me, and treated me like an adult. Anyway, I will no longer be posting and have requested my acount to be deleted and have removed any posts in the discussion sections. Thanks for the warm welcome and always good to see another Maddox fan. JackorKnave (talk) 00:46, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Genre delimiter debate

Hi there, sorry it took so long for me to write back to you. I'm sort of neutral in the matter; I personally think line breaks are more professional. However, if an article has been stable with commas and someone comes along and changes it without good reason I revert their edits. I don't get why their isn't some guidelines regarding this issue. Would make things much easier if there were some in place for us to use. If it was just a given no one would edit war over it, at least not nearly as much. The reason you have never seen me around is I am a pretty new editor. I have used wikipedia for years, but have only been editing for a short time. I still do not know much about how things work here. I am ignorant to many of the policies and such. Anyways, have a good day and nice talking to you. Landon1980 (talk) 04:35, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Metalhead. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Libs (talk) 22:07, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Read the talk page. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:09, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Your fix is to delete the entire article. The other users argument is to fix what is there. Fixing what is there is the "Wikipedia way". Blanking content is vandalism. Best that you learn the difference now. The above warning is valid and will stay. Your were put on a 1RR warning if I recall correctly. Perhaps we should notify the 1RR administrator? Attention to All and To Whom It May Concern

As some of you may or may not have noticed, I have not edited for a whole week (from May 13 to May 20) which I have never done before. This stems a slightly apathetic feeling for wikipedia editing at this time. After the 13th I just did'nt feel ike editing at all. I must say that it was quite a sensation to feel free of this wikipedia editing addiction I seem to have had for so long. Awaya from the intrigue, away from some of the idiots on here. I am quite proud of my 3000 and something edits. But now, I don't feel quite so excited by wikipedia. I'm sure it will pass, but for now, I may not be on a lot. I may not be on at all for a few weeks, who knows. I have things to do. My life is going through a lot right now. Most of it good, but all of it is keeping me busy. I hope wikipedia doesn't go to total shit when I'm gone, though I wouldn't be surprised. I consider myself a good editor, despite some of my edits that piss certain people off. I do a lot on the metal articles (and other various articles) on wikipedia that contribute information and I definitely do more help than not. I say this because I'm sure that when I'm gone some of the editors who have been laying low will come out and savage wikipedia. Am I an extremist? I don't think so, but I know some of the editors who dislike or have opposed me at certain times think I am. But even if I am, extremists are sometimes needed to balance the extremists on the other side. Always a balance there must be. Anyways, I'll make a few eidts today and probably won't be back for quite a while. If I do get on during the next few weeks, I'm sure it will be shortly to fix little things on a couple articles or something. Later. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:52, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

I can already see why I left. Total fuckin' dumbasses left and right, and I don't care if this is incivil. I'm sick of it. People don't want to follow the rules on wikipedia and they'd rather act like 6 year-olds. Grow up! Ya stupid fucks. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 00:17, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Think I'll Stay

After some cooling down, I have actually decided to stay, but only because editors like you and CircaruciX seem to be in the majority, and not editors like the one I was in conflict with. I'm not going to say I was in the right, but the point is people like you seem to far more wiling to provide lee-way for my inquiries and fuck-ups. Anyway, thanks a lot, and hope you get better soon.JackorKnave (talk) 11:35, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

No. But the whole "Satan" thing is about other things, which I refuse to state here, as it would be very unkvlt. So I love it. Is this what we're officially using now?? Instead of the other one? Hi Nav

Sorry mate, I must have read it and then totally forgot about it. I shall take a look after finishing with the 3RR board, but I can't promise much. I hope your health gets better, my friend. ScarianCall me Pat! 17:25, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

It's okay. Thanks. I'm totally in favor of blocking Lykantrop again, seeing as how he seemingly cannot respect what an admin says. As for the other stuff, I really don't know what to say. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 17:29, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
(ec) Okay, I can't take any action on the Metalhead article as there hasn't been any fights since May on there (But that's not an excuse to start any ;-)... I guess you could take it to WP:RfM or WP:RfC. I think, surprisingly, those formal interventions may be progressive. As for NWOAHM, if you want it gone, try an WP:AfD. But, as a note, it's a pretty well sourced article, so you're going to have to give a strong rationale to have it deleted. Those are the routes open for you. I hope this helps. Catch you later! ScarianCall me Pat! 17:32, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Hmmmm, alright. So be it. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 17:39, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm back...

At least for now. It could be very shortly. We'll see. I'm quite busy. Taking summer classes at my college and working, etc. Been reading some R.A. Salvatore Forgotten Realms books. Great series. Love it. Even if I don't play Dungeons & Dragons they sure make good books. Gotta be one of my favorite series. Right up there with Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. It's been almost a year since I've read any fiction, but this rules. I was hoping that wikipedia, and more specificaly some of the things I've been working on on wikipedia, didn't go to total shit while I was gone. Well, it seems everything remains generally the same. However, a few issues have gotten worse. What can you do? There's no cure for stupid, sadly, as some wikipedian users display. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 17:37, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

June 2008-Warning for deleting references from Metalcore article

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits are considered vandalism and are immediately reverted. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the work of others. Thank you.

Please do not gratuitously remove content from Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. 82.69.68.47 (talk) 18:19, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Warning like that are usually reserved for new users. Bad form, man. I assure you, it was not vandalism and saying so is gratuitously wrong, even if you disagree with what I said. That's a far cry from vandalism. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 18:28, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
I have taken the liberty of crossing out this warning as it was given in bad faith (by a possible sock, no less) to an edit that was not vandalism. The user just disagreed with me. And was quickly corrected. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 17:16, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

E-mail

Hey Nav, I don't suppose you have an email address I can use to contact you, by any chance? I tried to send you an email the traditional way, but it says you havn't specified an email address yet. ≈ The Haunted Angel 18:48, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey! Uh, nope, I have not done that yet. I do have an email address, but not a wikipedia one or anything. How do i got about creating one? Thanks, btw, for sticking up for me on the metalcore article, and in other instances. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 18:53, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Just go to your "my preferences" section and put your email in there; it's designed so that I can email you, but your email remains anonymous, as does mine (it'll just say something like The_Haunted_Angel@wikipedia.org, or something to that effect). I think you may have to verify it quickly, it's just something I wish to bring to your attention, that I'd rather not say on Wikipedia itself. ≈ The Haunted Angel 18:57, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm, okay. I just enabled it, but I still don't see anything on my user or talk page. Did I mess up? Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:21, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Nah, I think you've done it right - it says I can email you now; so just keep an eye on your inbox. ≈ The Haunted Angel 19:25, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Ok. how did you do that, though? Send me an email, I mean. I went to your user and talk page and I didn't see an option to email you. Maybe I'm just an idiot. It's a very real possibility. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:27, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
It's on the left, when you're on the person's user page, half way down the tool box - it'll say "E-mail this user" ≈ The Haunted Angel 19:33, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Woah, holy crap - it's sock puppet week by the looks of things! I see what you're saying, and that Tom Petty edit really clinches it for me. My guess is we are quickly gaining the evidence we need for WP:SSP - we just need to find who the puppeteer is. Feel free to remove this post from your talk page though (if you do, I'll do the same on mine), just in case the puppeteer sees - although if s/he does, at least they may stop the edit warring. ≈ The Haunted Angel 23:32, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Line breaks FTW! Oh, joy.

Ok, a lot of time has passed since I used to be an extremist line break edit warrior. I decided alreayd a while back that I would be more fair and that I just wanted to keep pages the way they were (whether line break or comma break) and not step on anyone's toes. And now we decided at WP:METAL a while back that if there was genre delimiter problems on a page it should be discussed until consensus is reached which is the best solution so far and cuts down a LOT on edit warring. I know I won't be an instigator of genre delimiter edit wars any more (which is the only thing I ever really edit warred about) now that there are other more peaceful solutions available. That being said, I noticed something since I've been back from my half-a-month-or-so break. I went to a lot of metal pages that had comma breaks less than a month ago and realized something suddenly. A high number of metal pages that had comma breaks have line breaks now. I don't know how that happened or how that decision was made, but I noticed it. In fact I was looking through this one vandal's edits and I saw that he had gone to a lot of metal band pages and " correct[ly] format[ted]" them to comma breaks. I visited all those pages, just to see if they still had comma breaks. I saw that he had been reverted at every single one, and some of these pages had actually had comma breaks for a long time (until someone changed them of course). But anyways, that's nice. Now this seems to be a generally metal phenomenon. I went to band pages that were of other genres and they seemed more or less the same. But not the metal pages. Interesting. I can't say I'm displeased. A ton of pages that I once edit warred at (and lost/got blocked at) now have line breaks again. And it seems most everyone is happy or at least laissez-faire/uncaring about it. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:00, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Hey

I might actually need your help. I know, inconceivable, right? Anyways, first, what do you think about WP:V? I've seen previously that you seem to be a stickler for it. I just want to know if you approve of it and enforce it. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 18:38, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I generally approve of it, because despite not acting on that instinct, i don't think you can generally trust in people to edit in good faith. While i think there should always be as many references as possible, i don't think each and every statement must be referenced by a source as big as, i.e., a major national newspaper. That's a dream world, as not every subject is covered by the media as huge as some circus attractions like Britney Spears for example are. However, the moment an argument is contended (obviously, i mean REALLY contended, not one random stranger saying "it's so"), a source as good and reliable as possible should be looked for. If none can be found, in most cases i'd rather see the part removed from the article than to use a strange source. So, long story short: Support it, generally yes. Enforce it, generally not so much. ~ twsx | talkcont | ~ 19:22, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Well I absolutely agree with what you said. Although I do believe it should be enforced more. I'm aware most people don't enforce it, and in fact, it seems to be generally ignored. I'm glad we agree. I may need your support in the future on this issue. I've had some issues with users. I wanted to remove a bunch of incited info that was total crap per WP:POV and WP:V and they kept reverting me. One of the users was saying things like, "You can't blank so much information. We must always think of the users and blanking such information does not help the user when they want to come to this page and learn something." Even if it's wrong? I was aghast. The user was totally misguided. I want to help users, too. But that means I want them to read information that is CORRECT. If there is even a small chance of it being wrong it needs to be removed to prevent misinformation being spread. Anyways, long story short, it seems resloved now, but we'll see, I may need your support on this issue in the future and this is not canvassing, I just might need your support to enforce a policy. Because those users just kept ignoring me and I told them to read WP:V and, well, they ignored me. I, too, wish that everything could be cited with a reliable source. Alas. Anyways, I hope I can count on your help with this issue if it ever arises again. Thanks. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:33, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm generally having a hard time getting my self to actually do some work around here (such as searching for reliable publications). But if it's about some fanbois who'd rather introduce their unreferenced version, i'm happy to help. ~ twsx | talkcont | ~ 19:37, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I hear you. It's definitely easier to delete unreferenced info than to actually search for reliable sources, which is kinda sad, but that's just the way it is. Thanks. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:41, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Ensiferum:Far more than Viking or Folk

Just bought "Iron", and melodic death metal, at least, is in there, I totally agree. Dunno why it's not in the info-box yet. I'd do it myself, but I'm not sure what the policy is on genres, when there's so little info on it.JackorKnave (talk) 21:51, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

It's okay if you put it in there. Someone must have removed it. But I talked to another user on the talk page and we agreed they have elements of melodeath. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 16:38, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Welcome Back!

Just let me know if you need my help on any of these issues - particular articles or templates. Talk to you soon, A Sniper (talk) 16:52, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Dude, what happened? Welcome back! I wanted to ask you to read my comment on the talk page for NWOAHM. I'm the 5th one. Festering Rat Corpse (talk) 17:28, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

What happened!? Someone changed the template. Now both infbox examples have comma breaks. Not only is that hardly fair and total crap but it's going to cause serious trouble, especially now that I've seen a rise in popularity of line breaks amongst metal band articles. It's only a matter of time before people start citing the template and trying to change everything to comma breaks. This needs to be stopped! The majoirty of metal band articles have line breaks (it cannot be denied, just start looking up some famous metal bands now; it's no longer just the underground bands) which means there must at least be some line break supporters out there. For that fact alone someone can't just change the template to their idea of what is right. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 16:56, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey man - I've looked through the history, but I can't actually find where it was ever line breaks, unless I just missed it. Still, it's got full protection - no one but a sysop can edit it. Still, I don't think it's going to be that bad yet, as there's still no agreed upon consensus for what is right and wrong... Still, we should keep an eye out ≈ The Haunted Angel 16:57, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
I know about the history thing. For some reason that page has always had a problem with the history. No matter what date you look at it all looks the same. Just look at the edit summaries and you will see what they are talking about but you won't see the change. But if you're like me, I used to visit that page all the time and the infobox on the right with Audioslave had line break in the genre section. Kameejl was instrumental in making that happen and I'll not soon forget it. We discussed it in my archives somewhere. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 17:03, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, on another look, I think it's all just made up of templates and such, whereas the infobox code itself is what's protected. Either way, we'll have to keep an eye out to see if people have decided that commas are right, when there is no consensus. ≈ The Haunted Angel 17:29, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
That would explain it. Well more people seem to be in favor of line breaks at the moment (at least on metal band articles) but people who prefer comma breaks might start changing them and citing the template now that it's been changed. As far as I know, there is no consensus. It looks like it might have been changed just because someone felt that line breaks only pertained to more rock and metal articles and not to the whole wikipedia, and they believed it should be uniform or something. The problem is, comma breaks do work alright for most music artist articles, but when you come to rock and especially metal bands, you start getting long genre names and a mixing of multiple genres (or a change of them) and so you get this info that requires much more space, which I think favors the line breaks. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 17:40, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I do agree with you; I havn't seen as much discussion on the subject though in the past month or so. ≈ The Haunted Angel 17:47, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Reverted Infobox guideline

Thanks for letting me know! I've reverted it as there is no consensus. Kameejl (Talk) 13:42, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

And by the way, for the correct history, browse to the Template:Infobox Musical artist/doc page, not to the code page Template:Infobox Musical artist. Cheers! Kameejl (Talk) 13:47, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Yo

I know. Thanks for responding to me. If you want another funny argument to look at, go to the talk page for Black Sabbath and read the section titled "Hippies." This one anonymous user keeps insisting that te band and their fans are hippies. Festering Rat Corpse (talk) 19:59, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

WOW! Even if they are, who cares? Sure, Black Sabbath started out as hippies but to say they and all their fans are hippies is ridiculous. Well it doesn't matter. Everyone should ignore that person. He obviously can't prove and won't find the source for it, so he should just be ignored.

I told you it was hilarious, didn't I? Hippies... what a bunch of shit. I just made my point and left. Anyway, I did have something to say about NWOAHM. It's on the talk page. Basically, I don't think it exists, and I support the deletion of it. When it gets nominated, notify me and I'll throw my two cents in.

I have something to ask of you now. Do you know how to put pictures on Wikipedia? Because if you do, would you put Impaled Northern Moonforest's logo on their page, and a picture of their 1997 demo on that page? Thanks metal brother, Festering Rat Corpse (talk) 17:44, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
