Heads up on notability
[edit]Hey Jerry. I just wanted to give you a heads up that Wikipedia has some, er, non-intuitive ideas that fall under the umbrella of the "notability guideline". Articles that may not meet the notability criteria are subject to review and often deletion, and sometimes this can happen months or years after the article is created. WP:BIO could be useful reading, and WP:VICTIM in particular. Best. HausTalk 04:02, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
Re:Your message
[edit]Hey Jerry. I took another look at the article and, beyond a couple of tweaks to the voice and tone, everything looks dandy. Here are some general tips on writing biographies that I refer to when I pop out a new bio article. Another suggestion is to go to the article, click the "history" tab, and look at the individual "diffs" (i.e. the changes) that folks have made to the article since you put it up. Also, there are a ton of examples of above-average biography articles among the good articles and featured articles.
All that said, given the few references that seem to be available on the fellow, I think you've done a pretty good job of covering him. Cheers. HausTalk 16:02, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
The article Brian Harris (Sheriff's Deputy) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Insufficient notability. Other than his death in the line of duty, there is no claim to notability whatsoever.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Safiel (talk) 04:28, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- I copied this PROD notice to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Law Enforcement. I'm split 50-50 on it: there may be enough to meet the WP:GNG, on the other hand, WP:1E may apply as well. Cheers. HausTalk 22:32, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
