How can I fix/re-direct the links to the incorrect Frank Fenton page? Nivreader (talk) 08:19, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Frank Fenton

[edit]

What seems to be the problem? Where are these links found and what should they be doing? Skittle (talk) 13:02, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you're asking how to take a link that says Frank Fenton and make it go to the page Frank Fenton (actor), simply type [[Frank Fenton (actor)|Frank Fenton]]. Using the 'pipe' | symbol, you can make a link say one thing but go somewhere else. For example, typing [[cat|dog]] makes a link like this dog. You should be careful when using these pipes in the encyclopedia because people should be able to guess where a link will take them. For example, the cat/dog example I gave would be a bad idea in an article (obviously)!

If you want to find all the articles that link to the page Frank Fenton, go to that page and click 'what links here' in the 'toolbox' under the search box on your left :) You can then look through and see if you can work out which page people meant to link to and pipe the links there!

Hope this helped. If not, you can explain here or on my talk page (User talk:Skittle). Skittle (talk) 13:11, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly what I was looking for, Skittle. Now I just have to do the work! Nivreader (talk) 22:25, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
