Move to userspace
[edit]@North8000: This is an interesting essay, but it does appear to be an essay—i.e. your own thoughts on NPP—rather than a project page per se. Would you object to moving it to your userspace? – Joe (talk) 08:35, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Joe Roe: I was asked by Novem_Linguae to develop it. It was oriented towards "huge backlog" times and lately I've been working less on it. It is structured to note which are the things that only NPP can do. Maybe ask Novem_Linguae what they think. North8000 (talk) 11:31, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- Is that a yes or a no? – Joe (talk) 07:05, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
- That was an "ask Novem_Linguae". It's not an essay, it's something that I was asked to develop for the project. If the project doesn't want it, I'm not interested in working on it. Sincerely, North8000 (talk) 02:21, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- Okay, so I'm hearing that you don't have an objection to move this page, so I'll do that. Novem Linguae (who is a person, not a project, as far as I know) is of course welcome to object, but given that you wrote the vast majority of this page and he has made two minor edits to it, I obviously asked you not him.
- To clarify, another title in Wikipedia space would also be fine, but Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Practical tips gives the impression that it reflects the consensus of the NPP project, rather than being the work of one user. – Joe (talk) 14:27, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- As I understand it @Novem Linguae: is the NPP coordinator and they asked me to create this and that is why I said to ask them. Most NPP materials are created by an individual or two and so do not meet the high bar of a consensus by the overall NPP project so IMO that is not the standard. Sincerely, North8000 (talk) 15:16, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- I'm afraid that's simply not true. The core NPP guidelines represent a great deal of editing and discussion amongst many people. You're perfectly welcome to offer your take on them, but that's an essay, whatever the person who asks you to do so calls themself. – Joe (talk) 17:41, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- Rude. –Novem Linguae (talk) 20:04, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- By the way, if you ask someone if it's OK to do something, and their response is "please ask Y person first", I don't know how you can in good faith interpret that as
Okay, so I'm hearing that you don't have an objection to move this page, so I'll do that.
That is a shocking failure of reading comprehension. –Novem Linguae (talk) 09:04, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
