Sources

[edit]

Hi there. I removed the birth date you added to Mercedes Masohn, as it was unsourced. Especially in biographies of living people, we need to be careful about adding information without a reliable source. Basically, reliable sources are newspapers, magazines, academic journals, etc. Websites can be reliable sources, too, but they need to have an established history of fact-checking, hire professional journalists, and not solicit user-generated content. Websites like the IMDb would not a reliable source, as it uses user-generated content, much like Wikipedia. Self-published sources, such as blogs, are also not usable. Sometimes you can find celebrity birthdays on their official social networking accounts, in celebrity-oriented magazines, and in reliable databases, such as Baseline. If you've got a source for the birthday, you can add it back, but you need to cite the source. I know it all seems very bureaucratic, but this is to protect people from having incorrect information added to their biography. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 02:11, 6 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
