Santiago Herroro Deletion 12/09/2019
Hello, Optakeover! I have been needing to make a Wiki account for some time now, and finding a small, funnily named hamlet on the Isle of Man-called The Cronk-with a friend finally brought me to the decision to finally make one, however silly the name was. We found that the small collection of about fifteen houses was the site of a crash that resulted in the death of an early Spanish motorcyle racer. However, this wasn't specifically stated in the article. I wanted to put the information I found within the article, but I don't have much experience with editing wiki articles, so that may be why you deleted it. I realize you may consider me a vandal punk, but I actually do want to make sure that, in the future, people don't have to spend about twenty minutes like me and my friend did trying to find exactly where it was.
Don't be hesitant to contact me and we can discuss it more! Happy Trails SC — Preceding unsigned comment added by Santiago Cronk (talk • contribs) 18:01, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Santiago Cronk:Thank you for your message! But please understand all information on Wikipedia must have sources. So please find a source that says so for your edits before making them. Regards, Optakeover(U)(T)(C) 18:04, 9 December 2019 (UTC)

John Nicolson page - request temporary freeze
Hello,
As you know, there is concerted effort to edit the John Nicolson page in a way that is politically biased an untruthful. I have been trying to protect political neutrality by deleting these. It is important the malicious edits are allowed given the general election tomorrow. Please restore the page to a version before the general election campaign began (4 NOV 2019) and disallow further edits until 2200 on 12 December 2019 after polls close, so that political neutrality is kept.

Why are you removing the Handel template from Terpsicore?
Articles on works of Handel all have a unifying template {{Handel operas}}. Someone decided to remove all templates for composers who have links at the bottom of their articles. This is under discussion at [1] and has met with a lot of objections, including from me, who wrote this article Terpsicore and have maintained the Handel articles for more than seven years. I want the template to remain, no decision to delete has been agreed, why are you taking it out when I restore it?Smeat75 (talk) 18:15, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Smeat75: I have restored your edit. What happened was I mass reverted an editor's edits which were adding an italic title template to many pages, and thought it was an error. I was trying to revert all of them, but accidentally reverted yours too. It wasn't on purpose. Regards, Optakeover(U)(T)(C) 18:22, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
Hi Optakeover
I don't think there's any way that I can prove that I beat Steve Avery's record in the 400m dash, other than to beat it again. But now I am old and out of shape and smoke too much. Will you please just allow me to state that I beat his record and take my word for it? It is the only thing I've ever accomplished in life. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.2.16.184 (talk) 19:44, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
you revoked the changes I made to eskom why? what was wrong with it? Cornelius Aveling (talk) 20:51, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Cornelius Aveling: Please see your talk page. Regards, Optakeover(U)(T)(C) 20:57, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you for using {{copyvio-revdel}} to draw attention to a copyright problem. In future, if you are not able to edit to remove the copyvio from the most recent version, please put a noe to this effect on the article talk page. Ideally, copyvio-revdel should be used only after editing to remove the copyvio from the most recent version. A responding admin will initially assume this, and look for changes shortly before the tempalte is placed to help identify the copyrighted content, as well as on the copyright detection tool. Again, thanks. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 21:14, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @DESiege: I'm vandalism-patrolling, so I was rushing through the tagging. I reverted the first edit and tried tagging immediately after, but didn't see the further edits after that. Thank you for the information, I'll do it properly next time. Optakeover(U)(T)(C) 21:17, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
IP range blocked
Hi, Optakeover. I thought you might like to know I've blocked 2a01:cb0c:cd:d800:dd3e:f39e:a7dd:6960's /64 range for two weeks. I hardly suppose you were actually scared by the threat, but it's still nasty and completely unacceptable. Bishonen | talk 18:08, 11 December 2019 (UTC).
- @Bishonen: I appreciate that. Thank you! Optakeover(U)(T)(C) 18:09, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Bishonen: By the way, how did you know? Just curious :P Optakeover(U)(T)(C) 21:53, 12 December 2019 (UTC)
- Oh, the usual way, through my watchlist. I've got User talk:Johnpacklambert watchlisted and happened to notice an editor (you) revert an IP there. That's usually a good reason to check out what the IP was saying, what else they've said or done, etc. The rest followed naturally. No magic admin X-ray power involved, I'm sorry to say. Bishonen | talk 22:15, 12 December 2019 (UTC).
- @Bishonen: I can never get used to the watchlist. If I turn on notifications it eats into my personal space, if I turn them off it loses effectiveness; if I watch a large number of pages the walk of text confounds me, if I watch a small number of pages I monitor pages ineffectively. How do you manage to use it well? Optakeover(U)(T)(C) 03:54, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not sure anybody is able to use it well. I "happen to notice" stuff, that's all — I'm sure I miss more than I notice. If I were to advise you, I would say: do watch a large number of pages, but only look at the top of your watchlist — say the top ten items — not the whole wall of text — and glance at it quite often. That way, you will always catch the newest stuff. But I don't see the watchlist and the notifications as connected, so I'm a little baffled by your comment on that score.
