Alexa bot idea

In the Internet industry, almost no one gives Alexa rankings credibility any more. Quantcast is the defacto standard in terms of publicly-available rankings. How hard would it be to have your bot take on the task of changing the articles it looks at over to Quantcast?--Jimbo Wales (talk) 01:39, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

I think it will be easy to adapt the code to any ranking services but it seems that Quantcast only provides US-based rankings. If this is actually true, I wonder if we should adopt it and be US-centric. What do you think?--OsamaK (talk) 16:34, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Bot not set up properly; please discontinue immediately

I've noticed that this bot updates the alexa rating in the infobox only on the Slashdot page. Unfortunately, it's doing it completely wrong because it's only updating the numbers there and adding a citation in the infobox, which is also WRONG. It is not updating the alexa rating in the text under traffic and publicity, where the information is cited there. So a duplicate citation in the infobox is completely and totally unnecessary, and also very misleading to readers and therefore improper. Please discontinue having this bot update the Slashdot unless and until you can get this fixed. Thank you. WTF? (talk) 16:44, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Since the field in the infobox is automatically updated, I suggest removing the text under "Traffic and publicity" and keeping the field because the latter is much easier to maintain and enough to give users an idea about Alexa ranking. Also, if any part of the article needs to use the Alexa reference, it should use <ref name="alexa"/> and that would resolve the reference duplication issue.--OsamaK (talk) 19:21, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

OKBot on Myspace

Hi there. I added the Alexa rank in the body of the article and was wondering if it's possible for OKBot to update that in addition to the Infobox update? Thanks. SGMD1 Talk/Contribs 00:26, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
