It's constructive and the info was correct & also direct from the Orioles org. . They have since updated their own info on Mgr./Coaches website after I contacted them via e-mail Phillies1964 (talk) 19:08, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MLB Roster Templates

[edit]

1 - Don't sign your username (~~~~) in an article... that's used to sign your own comments on a talk page (when you put it into a template article - you completely mess it up). Oops~ I didn't mean to mess it up...learning my way around.

2 - Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia. All information has to be cited. (In the case of MLB rosters - if its not coming from mlb.com - you have to be able to provide a source... Something others can see and verify... "Someone told me" isn't enough.) JustSomeRandomGuy32 (talk) 22:17, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adding bullpen catchers to MLB roster pages

[edit]

Hi ... I worked pretty extensively on the MLB roster pages last season and at that time, I think we were only including people specifically identified as coaches on the team's mlb.com coaches list. The bullpen catchers you've added to several pages today are listed under "Staff". I'm not going to revert your edits since I don't particularly care one way or the other, but I thought I'd give you a heads-up about how we've done things in the past. It might be worth raising at WT:MLB. --Sanfranman59 (talk) 21:43, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Taking all the Bullpen Catchers out along w/ Strength & Conditioning Guys also would be fine with me also. The Section should only have Bench, 1B, 3B, Hitting, Pitching, Bullpen Coaches w/ poss exceptions of say Catching, INF (eg: Tigers) or Spec Assistants & LA Dodger Coach...Manny Mota. That's it. I added all Bullpen Catchers listed by these team lists whether listed under coach or staff section....It's all semantics and pure sillyness to me. Phillies1964 (talk)

The agreed upon policy is to list whatever is listed under the coaches section on each team's mlb.com page. It's the only way to remain consistent. You're opening up a can of worms as soon as you start picking and choosing 'staff', even if they are positions with roster #s that are listed as 'coaches' by other teams. As I said before, "it's all semantics and pure sillyness". If you go by your theory we should never add/delete a player/coach and/or uniform # etc if it hasn't been changed By MLB...even if the info is in error or not upto date. Wikipedia just becomes a mirror image of MLB and has no use or significance. Why even go to Wikipedia just go to a MLB site then. We allneed to think outside the box to better serve Wikipedia. This is all such fooliness.....whatever..... Phillies1964 (talk)

Watch It

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Template:Cleveland Indians roster. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. --Giants27 T|C 23:48, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
