- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Your edit to Peace movement
[edit]I reverted your edit because it read both as 'editorialising' [see WP:OPED for policy on that] or a request/proposal for the article to be developed further [which should go on the talk page]. I am not objecting to the principle of your addition, only to the method. Significant statements such as your All schools of philosophy have advocated peace as a central theme of thought and as a foundation for society
need to be supported by citation: WP:Wikipedia is not a forum. Of course your immediate riposte may be (and you would be completely justified if it is) that the article has many such unsupported assertions. That is most unsatisfactory but doesn't excuse making the problem worse.
So please feel free to apply your contribution again just as soon as you can find a supporting citation. For the long version of how to do that, see Wikipedia:citing sources but for a start it is enough to follow the sentence using this markup:
- <ref>Doe, John: Peace as a central theme of thought. ISBN 123-456-789</ref> (i.e., surround the citation with <ref> </ref>)
and another editor will make it pretty. The hard (but most interesting) work of contributing to Wikipedia is the search for supporting evidence. If the "wikipedia bug" grabs you, finding citations to support the existing text [or deleting obvious opinion] would be most welcome.
If your purpose was just to suggest improvement to the article, post it at talk:Peace movement but please be aware that we are all volunteers here and a good maxim is "if you want anything done properly around here, you have to do it yourself".
You may be interested in WP:WikiProject Philosophy, where you may receive a better welcome than mine (not difficult, sorry). --𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 10:45, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
