Kazakhstan

I'm not sure which you mean. I'm only adding articles on the provinces of Kazakhstan; only two already have articles, the rest do not, and the article that DO exist are rather sparse (not that mine are any better). I know that articles for the cities already exist, but Almaty is also a province. :) --Golbez 05:47, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

It's no problem at all, nice to see someone else watching. All I've done is make maps of them (that's a huge project of mine), and in the course of that I'm making stubs on all the provinces. --Golbez 05:51, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Kangeiko

You marked this for speedy deletion as "unremarkable people or groups", ie CSD A7. This criterion states "An article about a real person, group of people, band or club that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject. If the assertion is disputed or controversial, it should be taken to AFD instead." The article states "Kangeiko is a long-running tradition at the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois." So the article is not about a person or group, rather about a tradition. If you argue that the article does not assert the significance of those who follow that tradition, I'm not sure many other traditions assert the significance of their followers either. Maybe, then, this article is deserving of deletion, but not under speedy deletion criterion A7. I suggest you work out some argument for an AFD. jnothman ^talk 07:19, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Participant alert regarding Wikiproject on Advertising

The Wikiproject No Ads, created as a backlash against the Answers.com deal, has served an important function in providing a space for users to express their disagreement with the Foundation proposal. While the current controversies about userboxes raise questions about political and social advocacy on Wikipedia, there should be greater flexibility regarding advocacy about Wikipedia in the Wikipedia namespace. Reported and linked by Slashdot and other press sources as a unique and spontaneous occurence in Wikipedia history, it has apparently had some impact as, despite being scheduled to begin in January, not a peep has been heard about the trial and proposed sponsored link since the deal's controversial announcement months ago. Currently, however, there is an attempt to delete the project or move it off Wikipedia altogether. Since the Foundation has provided no additional information and has not attempted to answer the specific questions that participants in the project raised, it is unclear if the Answers.com deal has been abandoned or simply delayed. Hello Prashant

I'm sorry Imissed you last week when I was in the BR Hills. Unfortunately I was at the mercy of wedding proceedings for my in-laws and wasn't even sure I would be able to get a chance to see the BR Hills - I have not been back since I volunteered there in 1997 for a few months. Even the Betta has not escaped all the development elsewhere in India, and the clinic/hospital has really come a long way since 1997. Except for te fence behind the temple, the beauty remains...Next time I visit I hope I can make more time for the BR Hills!
