Pronunciation guides

[edit]

Hi there, why do you keep removing pronunciation keys like here? Please stop this. It also doesn't help that you are adding poor grammar and other problematic phrasing to articles like in the linked edit and also here where for some reason you think the needless repetition of "later/then" somehow improves the article.

Plot summaries are usually written in the unfolding present-tense, meaning that something happens now, then something else happens, then something else happens. We don't need to actually say "later, then". For instance if I said "Sanjay proposed to Helen and they were married", you can understand that one event preceded another. There's no confusion about whether a marriage happens before or after, or sooner or later, right? "Sanjay goes to a convenience store. He initially has trouble deciding what he wants, but settles on the Coca-Cola. He pays the cashier and leaves." That's pretty straightforward, no? We wouldn't write, "Later, Sanjay goes to a convenience store. He initially has trouble deciding what he wants, but later settles on the Coca-Cola. Then he pays the cashier, then he leaves." Needless words.

If English is not your primary language you might want to avoid editing prose, because if you continue to add problems to articles, you may quickly find your editing privileges interrupted. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 12:36, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

More:
  1. Here you added bold face erroneously. We typically only add bold when referring to the subject the first time, not for everybody with the same last name. In the caption, we don't need to say the subject's first name. WP:SURNAME. You also added an unsourced birthdate, which is not okay. We don't want to accidentally violate a subject's privacy by publishing their birthdate. See WP:BLPPRIVACY.
  2. Here you added unnecessary wikilinks. If we've already linked to someone, we don't need more links. Duplicate links are not helpful and they only distract the reader. See WP:OVERLINK.
  3. Here, we don't need to say Hina Khan's full name every time we mention her. Once we establish her name at the top of the article, we will then typically only refer to the subject by their surname. See WP:SURNAME. It is also unclear why you removed sourced content in the Web section.
Please keep this stuff in mind moving forward, as more problematic edits like these will not be acceptable. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 12:49, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
