Image copyright problem with Image:Shapey-1-sm.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Shapey-1-sm.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. Edit summary[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

You're welcome. Everyone forgets or neglects an edit summary once in a while, so I'll try and stay off your back. I also want to write and encourage your participation in Wikipedia. I don't think I like your edits to Interval class [1], but I don't wish that to indicate that I don't welcome you (as I still do) or that my friendly notes above are a way of badgering an editor I disagree with (I actually look forward to discussions with you). Embedding MIDI[edit]

Sorry, didn't log in recently.

Concerning midi's in interval class. No, I do not believe midi files can be included as acceptable audio files on Wikipedia. Even it could, would probably cause a hassle for many people. Either way, you should convert it to ogg.

Of course, it follows that conversion involves synthesis, since no samples are in a .midi.

On 'nix, Timidity++ is usually used to synthesize .midi to .wav, upon which it can be encoded. On 'dows, I recommend Synthfont.

After obtaining the .wav, encode it to ogg vorbis. (aoTuV, a developmental fork of the official vorbis by one of the vorbis developers, is recommended as it allows for greater quality at low bitrates). But the official vorbis is fine too.

Notation Error[edit]

Hi - Your diagram at [2] contains an error. No. 3 should be an F-sharp to a D-flat, but an F-flat is shown. Seems to have gone a long time unnoticed by others!
