Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

but with that in mind...

please do try to acknowledge that wikipedia works differently from wikis dedicated to certain topics, like bulbapedia, or any fandom wiki. for something to have its own article, it requires coverage, and it requires that that coverage be significant. because of the latter, pokémon like blaziken and arceus currently don't have their own articles, as coverage on them wasn't found to go in depth

additionally, non-admins can create pages like articles and redirects, but if you want an article made, you should familiarize yourself with how articles work (preferably by reading the manual of style linked above and good or featured articles), and then create a draft with the articles for creation process cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 15:18, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I second the above. While your talk page comments are appreciated, they may be interpreted as disruptive by other editors, so I would refrain from placing many more of them for the time being. For the time being, I'd focus on familiarizing yourself with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for topics such as notability and page-writing. That being said, feel free to leave a message on my or another editor's talk page if you wish to have us clarify or explain anything to you. Best wishes and happy editing! I know…it’s just that I want to put more info on Pokémon. That’s all. --PyukumukuAce (talk) 16:15, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

same, but that info generally has to have citations behind it
unfortunately, a lot of pokémon-related articles might actually be due for some cleanup, which would likely involve trimming them down a considerable amount cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 16:17, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to talk pages are unacceptable. I considered indefinite blocking you out right. -- ferret (talk) 21:27, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry…I’ll try to be less immature next time…it’s just that sometimes I don’t stop and think or rush too much. I am also often overly hyper. I’ll do better, promise! — Preceding unsigned comment added by PyukumukuAce (talkcontribs) 22:02, September 2 2024 (UTC)

Hi PyukumukuAce. When creating a new article or adding claims of fact to existing ones, a citation to one or more reliable sources is required. Please see WP:V and WP:CITE for more information and helpful guidance. These policies and guidelines are obligatory as part of our effort to ensure the accuracy and credibility of what we are presenting to our readers. Thank you for your contributions to the project. -Ad Orientem (talk) 16:59, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

editing tips of low optionality

[edit]

as in "those are things you absolutely should do"

  • use edit summaries: instead of stating what you did in talk pages (as seen here), you can do it with the summary of an edit (as seen in most edits, like this one)
  • use the reply function: instead of just adding the text and calling it a day, that tool automatically adds your signature and indents the replies properly
  • use the articles for creation process: instead of mass-producing stubs and leaving the burden of fleshing them out to other people, creating a draft at least leaves the clutter out of mainspace
  • check for sources before adding things to (or creating) pages

and most importantly...

  • check for minor spelling mistakes on your user page
