User talk:Quantumcheese
Welcome
[edit]Hello Quantum Cheese, and thank you for joining! I saw your first edit, and it looks great! I especially appreciate that you gave a proper edit summary. That really helps, so I always try to do it. I'm going to post a "standard welcome template" below with general new user advice, because some of it might be useful to you.
I regularly check my notifications, so you will be able to reach me in two ways:
- You can edit my user talk page: you can add a new section (there's a tab for it at the top of the page) or, if you want to reply to something that's already there, you can just click on the edit link at the section heading.
- Tag me into a conversation: on an article or user talk page, you can type [[User:Slashme]] or {{Ping|Slashme}}, and I'll get a notification.
When editing article pages, just keep on as you're doing at the moment - that looks great. When editing talk pages, always finish with a signature: --~~~~.
Just like on Reddit, not all users are nice. This is something that we take very seriously. If anyone is being mean to you, you can ask me or you can ask at the Teahouse and we'll help out.
To find interesting things to do, you might like to find a corresponding WikiProject.
As for the user page, I'd recommend putting as much information as you feel 100% comfortable sharing into your user page. Just go to User:Quantumcheese and type a sentence or two for now, and then your username won't show up as red in the article histories anymore. This means that you look a little less like a newbie ;-]
A life-changing gadget that I use is Navigation Popups - it gives you lots of info just by hovering over a wikilink.
OK, that's already a bit long for a welcome, but one last thing: Wikipedia has no deadlines. Don't worry about anything on here. It's all virtual, and nothing bad will happen if you make mistakes, so be bold and have fun! --Slashme (talk) 11:43, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
Welcome!
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, Quantumcheese! Thank you for your contributions. I am Slashme and I have been editing Wikipedia for some time, so if you have any questions feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. You can also check out Wikipedia:Questions or type {{help me}}
at the bottom of this page. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
- Discover what's going on in the Wikimedia community
Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically produce your username and the date. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Slashme (talk) 11:44, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
Happy Birthday!
[edit]So apparently you share a birthday with Lucy Lawless. Congrats on surviving another trip around the sun, and I hope it's a great day! Slashme (talk) 14:46, 29 March 2017 (UTC) |
