Speedy deletion nomination of Hafiz Shams Uddin
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Hafiz Shams Uddin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 03:05, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

My article with the name of Mian Shams Uddin was deleted. It looks like that was deleted based on assumption that it was adverting or self-promotion but the underline message was noted. This person died more than one hundred years ago and his writings are not yet published / uploaded on internet but his poetry has been published / printed many times in the past.
We are planning to have his poetry and other writings uploaded on internet but will take time to do so. I want to know what can we do as we need some assistance from common people who might have some material of his writings or about him who may want to share. We would like to collect that material to publish.
Please advise how can we proceed?
Regards,

[edit]Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia! When adding the name of an individual to a list of notable people, it is important that the subject either have a pre-existing, properly sourced article on Wikipedia, or that you provide a footnote with a reference to a reliable source in order to establish their notability. The usual course of action is to create a separate article for the individual with sufficient references that prove their notability, and once it has been successfully established, their name may be added to the articles of the places, ethnic groups, etc they are associated with.
It is inappropriate to add an individual's multi-paragraph biography to another article that is not about the individual, as you did at Guliana, Gujrat, simply because articles should stay focused on the topic mentioned in their titles.
If you need further advice or help, please feel free to contact me or another editor! Thank you. AtticusX (talk) 15:32, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
In general, a person or organization added to a list should have a pre-existing article to establish notability. If you wish to create such an article, please confirm that your subject is notable according to Wikipedia's notability policy. Do not continue to simply re-add the same inappropriate material to multiple articles. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked. If you need help, please feel free to contact me or discuss the issue on the talk page of one of the articles. AtticusX (talk) 05:49, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
This is your last warning; the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 08:12, 28 December 2010 (UTC) Rafiullah Khan (talk) 04:46, 29 December 2010 (UTC) EdidIting was deleted without asking me. Please note that I belong to Village Guliana, Gujrat. Many details are known to me which I want to upload. This page has no details that show the history, culture and the present. My village is full of history and many known / famous people were of this villagge origin. I want to update the details one by one but you have put me on warning. Keep in mind presently nothing is availabe on internet about these details. Please let me know if you want me to continue and how? [edit]Hello,
A Wikipedia article has to be based on reliable sources independent of the subject. These sources, or references, don't have to be available on the Internet, or even in English. History books or journal articles published in India would be OK, as long as the sources are cited. You can't put in information from your own memory or personal records. Don't discuss what you don't know or want to learn in a Wikipedia article. You can ask these questions in the talk page for the article. You can communicate with other editors with interests and knowledge of related areas by communicating on the talk page of related articles. Don't feel bad if the current article is deleted. Study the Wikipedia standards, work on a better article and provide references. You will be successful if the topic is notable. Feel free to ask me questions on my talk page. Good luck. Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. I see that you have added three references to this article to sources written by Malik Zaman. Could you please provide a bit more information about these sources? If they are from published books or journal articles then please provide the name of the publisher and date of publication. It would also be useful if you could provide the titles and the author's name in the Urdu alphabet, as this may help other editors to track them down.
