Album covers
Hi Marc, I noticed you've been uploading lower resolution covers. 300×300px is acceptable resolution and uploading a lower one is redundant. Also, I restored the more detailed fair-use rationale for Through the Wire. WP:NFCC requires you to give the copyright holder if different from the source. If you have any questions, just leave a message. Cheers. Spellcast (talk) 07:11, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- 300×300px is a good rule of thumb based on this. It ensures the resolution is under 0.1 megapixels. Spellcast (talk) 21:57, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- Well, under 0.1 megapixels just ensures the pic is low-res. You can upload covers under 300x300 if you want, but it's kinda pointless if 300x300 is acceptable. Why would you want to go lower anyway? Spellcast (talk) 22:05, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- Because, some times a cover image in an article is 300px. However, say I find a version of the cover on the internet that has better colour detail, but is 200px instead of 300px. Get the point? I would want to use the one with better colour detail in a case like that. Rappingwonders (talk) 22:07, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- In that case, I suppose you could go with the lower res but better quality pic. But most covers under the existing 300x300 res wouldn't be better quality. Spellcast (talk) 22:14, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:50centselfdestruct.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:50centselfdestruct.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:32, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

- Please provide it. Sorry, in wikipedia you cannot believe a word of a wikipedian. Since everyone can edit, references published in reliable sources are the only way to distinguish correct information from bullshit. `'Míkka>t 01:36, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Damn it, I shouldn't deleted that recording from my camera that showed them confirming it in an interview. Fine, leave the album name removed. Rappingwonders2 (talk) 01:37, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

It is bad that the article bootleg album does not exist. And the red link reminds people that someone must write an article. Bootleg record as well. On the other hand the article Bootleg recording exists. And I am making redirect links to it. You could have done this yourself: I se you know how redirects work. `'Míkka>t 01:42, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, but don't forget what else I said, if you're gonna remove the labum fron Young Jeezy's article, don't also remove that Lil' J is an alias of his. Rappingwonders2 (talk) 01:43, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
In My Ghetto
Then do not put it under albums. Make a different section called Bootlegs and add it. I work in the music industry and IT IS NOT an official release from Akon. I should know! Trimy67 (talk) 21:39, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm afraid you're wrong

About the above image, you can only put it under a copyleft license if you took it. Screenshots of videos still fall under copyright and so can't be freely licensed. Do you me to just delete the image? Spellcast (talk) 23:50, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- But it's my image that I took. But fine, delete it if you don't like it. Rappingwonders (talk) 00:28, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Do you mean you took it as a screenshot from a video? If so, any shots from the video is a derivative image and it still retains the copyright. Sorry for this legal hassle, but it's just so you know. Someone else would've ended up tagging it anyway. Spellcast (talk) 00:45, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- No, I took it at a live concert, not from a video. I was actually at the concert. Rappingwonders (talk) 00:47, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about removing the free image, that was unintentional on my part. The revert was due outstanding WP:BLP issues and the resulting semi-protection. Please do not restore any material which is not supported by reliable third party sources. Blogs and the like are generally not acceptable when dealing with biographies of living persons. If you have any questions about this please free free to contact me on my talk page or by email. Thank you, Can't sleep, clown will eat me 04:54, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

About your Images...
Please do not ridiculously overwrite someone else's work and replace it as your own. Instead, be more civil. Tag the image you think that is a copyvio if it does not have a fair use rationale. This way, it will not damage history logs. If 2 weeks pass, and it still lacks a fair use rationale, feel free to request the image for deletion and THEN upload an image on a different name. I don't want you to be labeled as a vandal, thanks. 67.167.20.247 (talk) 01:50, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- What images are you talking about? Rappingwonders (talk) 01:58, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi. Regarding your edit to Ching-a-Ling: in accordance with Wikipedia:WikiProject Songs, the "next single" field in the infobox should be left blank because it is Elliott's latest single and another hasn't been announced. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine (talk) 18:21, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, okay. Rappingwonders (talk) 18:22, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Fat Joe
I am going to put the other picture on there again because your picture that you have put up is quite blurry. Not only that, but the other one is ALSO free. It was taken by some guy at a concert, the guy that actually uploaded it onto wikipedia and put it on there.
- Then let's use both images. Rappingwonders (talk) 20:32, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Okay, how would it be vandalism? But yeah, I understand you now, lol, sorry. Kinda cool how we are basically the main two editors of the Fat Joe page, haha. I keep up with some other hip hop pages, as well as many Green Bay Packers pages and their players. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Y5nthon5a (talk • contribs) 20:38, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Re: A question for you
Hi. Listen, I got something I wanna ask you. You do such a good job with reducing image resolutions. Whenver I tag an image to be resized, you've done it within 12 hours. I think you'd make a great adminastraitor here. So, I was about to nominate you, when I noticed that it said that I should ask you if you wanna become an admin first. So, is it okay if I nominate you? Rappingwonders (talk) 19:57, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sure, if you want to. I'll probably not make it though, I'm not really the ideal editor (I like, NEVER leave an edit summary, doh) and I think I'm too non-heard-of other than doing images. Also... I sorta can't think of what an administrator can do with images that I can't do as a normal user, lol. That's really cool of you though, thanks. Am I allowed to vote for myself if you're the one that nominated me? (j/k) Melesse (talk) 06:33, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of In My Ghetto
An editor has nominated In My Ghetto, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/In My Ghetto and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:59, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Possibly unfree Image:Fat-joe.jpg
An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Fat-joe.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Spellcast (talk) 15:31, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Template:Non-free promotional discussion
Hello, Rappingwonders. Since you recently contributed to the lively deletion discussion for Template:Non-free promotional, I thought I'd let you know that I've continued the discussion about this template at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content#Template:Non-free promotional. The result of the deletion discussion was to keep the template, but there are still some questions about whether the current template serves a useful purpose and how to prevent its misapplication. Please contribute to the discussion if you are interested. —Bkell (talk) 17:54, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

I am sorry to inform you that I have closed your RfA early as realistically it was no longer capable of succeeding. Do not be too disheartened - many of our finest admins were unsuccessful on their first attempt. I hope you will take onboard the concerns raised by those opposing and will consider running again in the future when you have more experience. Best wishes, WjBscribe 11:00, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

You said "No, 300x300px is the best resolution to use." Why, exactly? There is no hard rule on Wikipedia that limits fair use claims to 300px resolution. I appreciate that you are offering your time to help fix images, but reducing something from .16 megapixels to .09 megapixels is unnecessary and a waste of your time and resources. Cheers, ˉˉanetode╦╩ 01:16, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- No, Spellcast said that 300x300px is the best cover resolution. We can argue all day if you want but the point is that the version I uploaded is the best resolution version for that image. Rappingwonders (talk) 01:17, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- BTW, in response to your message: I am also an admin, please don't give me frivolous warnings. Believe me, I have no wish to argue such a trivial point. However I do urge you to take a look at this discussion to gain a greater understanding of what Wikipedia policies on low-resolution imply. Suffice to say that while the 300px rule is an ok guideline to fall back on, it is not a strict limit. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 01:22, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, now another question: Why the hell did you remove the more detailed fair use rationale? Rappingwonders (talk) 01:34, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- My mistake, I've added a templated rationale. If you're interested in album cover and other non-free media maintenance, take a look at User:AWeenieMan/furme. It's a script that helps you add detailed rationales quickly and easily. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 01:41, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Pics
Because of the reddish/brown color, the cover looked somewhat blurry and different to the original one (which was mostly grey). As for the PUIs, it's not my job to close self-reports. It might take weeks before an admin closes it. Spellcast (talk) 16:57, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

It doesn't matter, see WP:NFCC #9. Unfree pics are only allowed in articles. The fact that there's a few free pics doesn't mean all the pics are allowed. But if they were all free, it would probably be ok. Spellcast (talk) 22:21, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
