What UTC time zone is standand? Is it also okay and a good idea to practice on my user page? Razorbrain (talk) 02:07, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, first of all the UTC time zone is... a UTC time zone. Your local time is relative to that -- for example, it is currently ~2:20AM UTC; where I live, in Eastern Standard Time, it is 9:20PM (EST), since I am in UTC-5. I encourage you to do a bit of research, it highly interesting stuff!
- As for practicing, I created a sandbox in your userspace (located at User:Razorbrain/sandbox), where you can pretty much all the testing you want; practically the only limitation is that you are not allowed to include nonfree copyrighted material or personal attacks/harassment.[1]
- Lemme know if there is anything else I can help with! :) Salvidrim! 02:31, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)1, We default to GMT I believe, but you can change your time-zone by going to preferences.
- 2, The best place to draft stuff and general mess up is in your sandbox, (which you can find via the link right at the top when you are logged in.) You can find out more about that at WP:SAND
- To find out what you can and can't do in your user space see here; WP:USERPAGE, put simply this talk page is for other editors to communicate with you and for you to respond. Your actual main user-page is for you to put a bit about yourself and your activities here, it must be noted however that it is not a space for you to do whatever you like with, though it is pretty customisable. Again WP:USERPAGE should help explain that.
- You have already found 1 way to get help (by placing the {{help me}} tag on the page) but you can also get help on IRC at #wikipedia-en-help connect or at the help desk WP:NUH and lastly information about creating your first article can be found at WP:YFA. --wintonian talk 02:31, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
