Thanks for getting involved. I left a post at talk:Peyton Manning, but I'll ask you here too. I see the inconsistency, but we aren't allowed to use Wikipedia as a source. I've looked around some and there are strong indications that the AP NFL MVP started in '61. This ref from the article and this piece which talks of "Manning can tell Brett Favre to move over and make room for him atop the roster of MVPs" and "The award has been given by The AP since 1961." The NFL MVP article seems to include the Player of the Year awards from the '50s, but I can't find a good source for those being the same. Do you know of any?
