Edit summaries, addition of non-English text[edit]

Hello there! Unfortunately, I had to revert two of your edits just now, as one added non-English text to the English language Wikipedia, and your most recent edit made *numerous* changes to the basic info of a page without explanation or sourcing. I am actually an intermediate learner of German myself, so in the second example I could see you changed the spelling of a German ethnic group to the way it would be written in German: please don't do that. You can review the page and see that the title has a space, as that is how we write the phrase in English- that's how it should remain throughout the article.

I request that in the future, you enter a brief "edit summary" each time you are making changes to articles on the English Wikipedia. This is a norm we observe out of respect for our fellow editors, as many of us review recent changes to prevent vandalism or even well-intentioned edits like your own which actually break rules or norms of the site. With edit summaries, we can understand much more quickly and effectively what the intention of a larger edit might have been.

You can look at my edit history for some examples of edit summaries, if you'd like. In my opinion, you don't really need to worry about edit summaries if you're working on your own draft, but for edits like those I had to revert, it would be helpful for others to understand what you're trying to do with your changes (and maybe help improve them, rather than just reverting back to how it was).

Please let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything I can do to help you acclimate to the English Wikipedia! I suspect from your actions here that you're already experienced in wiki activity, perhaps from de.wiki, but as you've likely seen, the English site sometimes has stricter policies about many things.

So again, feel free to ping me as a peer support, and if I can't answer something I can point you to the right resource to ask others. Also, I am a long-time English copyeditor who finds editing very relaxing, so if you'd like a second set of eyes on your current draft, or any future drafts, before the AFC reviewers get to it, let me know and I'll happily share my feedback. Have a great day, tschüss! Chiselinccc (talk) 00:26, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, fellow Wikipedian. I didnt know that so, i can understand it. However, in the Infobox (where the group lives) it was also reverted, and i am a sudetengerman myself, i can assure you that "many of them" is just the wrong word. most if us live in Germany, i have never seen a remaining sudetengerman in Czechia. also Germany and Austria is not all, of course its the majority but you just need to take a look at the map of sudeten.net (Social network of the Sudeten Germans) there are many in France, Sweden, UK, US, Asia etc. there was even a Sudetengerman Homeland Association New York. so I would suggest to atleast change that.
Greetings, RegierungDavidlands1852
