GOCE June 2015 newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors June 2015 News

May drive: Thanks to everyone who participated in last month's backlog-reduction drive. Of the 38 people who signed up, 29 copyedited at least one article, and we got within 50 articles of our all-time low in the backlog. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Coordinator elections: Nominations are open through June 15 for GOCE coordinators, with voting from June 16–30. Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Miniapolis, Jonesey95, Biblioworm and Philg88.

Natural-born-citizen clause

After you temporarily blocked a new single-purpose account for violating the 3RR rule on this article, another new SPA started making the same arguments as the first. I am assuming good faith, but, given the timing, is there a method to determine whether this might be a sockpuppet? Thanks. Weazie (talk) 17:36, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

At this time, no, I don't believe anything can be done. You may be right, but (IMO) the evidence is too thin right now to prove that these two accounts are being controlled by the same person. While it may be a stretch to argue that the second account is simply someone else who happens to share similar views on the subject, this possibility can't be ruled out. I will be keeping an eye on the article and its talk page, however, and if things become clearer, I may act then. Just not now. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 05:07, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
OK; thanks. I did not know if you had access to the IP addresses, etc. --Weazie (talk) 05:24, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
I'm not a CheckUser. And even if I were, I wouldn't be allowed to do this sort of check without probable cause first — something which I don't believe exists here yet. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 05:37, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Nomination for merging of Template:Scite

Template:Scite has been nominated for merging with Template:Ussc. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page. Thank you. — SMUconlaw (talk) 20:23, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Understandable; thanks for the explanation. Weazie (talk) 15:28, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
Oppose unless the external link question is resolved first. See the comment I posted just now at Template talk:Scite. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 20:38, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Oversight

Hi - thanks for the advice in your email regarding the edit summary of my revert of personally-identifiable information. I should've thought of that. Alakzi (talk) 00:04, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
