October 2007[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. — madman bum and angel 20:05, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from articles you have created yourself, as you did with Julie Lohre. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you. Please read Talk:Julie Lohre for the reasons I chose to mark the article for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask me on my talk page. Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 16:41, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The best way that you can improve the article at this point would be to provide multiple independent sources to verify the contents of the article. I see she's been covered quite a bit, so there must be some references out there that you can add. The promotional content I was referring to is still in the article; there are two paragraphs at the bottom that are quite simply hocking her services and DVDs; they have a distinctly promotional tone. As for conflict of interest, you clearly DO have have a COI since you're her husband; it doesn't matter if you make it neutral and objective (which it's not at this point), it's still a COI. Click on that link so you can review the COI guideline, as it's very important. The article also violates the copyright of pages on www.julielohre.com; even though you're her husband, the copyright on that page belongs to her, and you have not given evidence of explicit permission of use from her. I hope this helps, please leave me another message if you have further questions. Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 17:03, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that it's already been deleted per the reasons I gave on the talk page. I would like to strongly discourage you from creating or contributing to any article or content about you or your wife as it does present a clear conflict of interest, which is a core guideline on Wikipedia. You are still welcome to contribute in any other area of the encyclopedia. Please note as well that my interaction with you is in no way meant to be a personal attack; I just want you to be aware of the policies and guidelines. Thanks! Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 17:05, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I like the new format, and the article has considerably less problems than it did before, so I'm not going to tag it for speedy deletion. Still, you seem to miss grasping the conflict of interest guideline. In a nutshell, the guideline says:

Editors proposing to write about themselves, their own organizations, or matters they have very close ties to, are strongly advised not to edit or create such articles at all (except for certain non-controversial edits) but to instead use the talk page to request help from neutral editors.

You obviously have very close ties to your wife, so writing about her is a clear conflict of interest. Given your history with articles on the subject, I will again strongly discouraging you from contributing content about your wife until you have demonstrated that you understand the COI guideline and neutral point of view policy. Again, if you have further questions, please contact me on my talk page. Oh, also remember to sign your posts with tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. Thanks! Don't want to tattle... Ricklohre 18:03, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A management company with an account creating articles about clients is a very gross violoation of Wikipedia policy. If you do indeed know of incidents where this has occurred, please let me know. Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 18:10, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, it seems as though maybe I was wrong...further research into the pages shows that the management company was only Cited...Actually, I guess I can't see who created the Wiki page. That's why I thought it was their management company... Ricklohre 18:23, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can see the creator and all of the users that contributed to the page by clicking on the "history" tab at the top of the page. Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 18:27, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
