Babangida Kabir Ruma Arabic: بابانجيدا كبير) was born between 1989 and 1990 in Batsari, Katsina, He has been actively involved in youth activities at both national & international levels championing youth empowerments through leadership & capacity building[1]. He was a Co-founder for Arewa Youth Awareness Initiative Forum (AYAIF) and The Ruma Initiative. He previously worked as a Team Leader during four days workshop on Climate change organised by World Youth Foundation, [2]Ruma appointed as Peace Ambassador for the Commonwealth [3]Youth Council’s Youth Campaign Against Election Violence (Y-CAEV) in Nigeria 2015. He is Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).Community Organizer and Nigerian Social Activist, An active Youth leader in Nigeria and he contributed to informed Youth policy dialogues in African Region. He was a candidate for Vice Chairperson Commonwealth youth council general elections Malta 2015 and a Member of the Commonwealth Youth Council Peace Ambassadors Network (CYPAN), Member of the United Nation Interagency Network on Youth Development’s Working Group on Youth and Gender Equality. First African International Student Ambassador representing Nigeria in Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Malaysia.[4] He was Nominated to Participate in YALI Regional Leadership Center West Africa program, Ruma has extensive experience working on youth issues at the local, regional and international level having previously worked in various international organizations as well as starting his own initiatives. Ruma was born between 1989 and 1990 in Batsari, Katsina, he attend Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Malaysia for his Higher School studies, he Very tactical leader with a strong drive and passion for service and development, with the ability to initiate/manage cross- functional team and multi – disciplinary projects. He is Open minded and broad thinking [5]personality with innovative approaches to new and existing challenges. Noteworthy history and experience in the field of youth leadership, advocacy, volunteerism, project organizing and public speaking. [6]Constantly challenging the status quo, to breach barriers and reach new boundaries. Very approachable, friendly and understanding but very firm and particular on punctuality and discipline.[7]

Career

Ruma [8] started hid career as a Community Organizer and Social Activist, Because of his contribution to youth development in Nigeria, he was nominated to Contest for the Vice chairperson of the Commonwealth Youth Council General election in Malta 2015. Ruma is currently serving as a Member Commonwealth Youth Council Peace Ambassadors Network (CYPAN) [9] and Member of the United Nation Interagency Network on Youth Development’s Working Group on Youth and Gender Equality. He was nominated as the first ever Commonwealth Young Achiever in 2015 who’s his story of Community Organising Inspired more than 2.5 Million Young people from 53 countries.

Ruma has initiated and implemented numerous projects and campaigns with high school students, youth organizations and civil society institutions across Nigeria and Malaysia including founding The Ruma Initiative, a voluntary youth movement working on promoting sustainable environmental practices among young people. He is a firm believer in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and believes with the right investments in young people, they can contribute significantly towards attaining the goals. [10]He’s also contributed to the consolidation of peace efforts in places like Niger Republic, Ghana, Somalia, South Africa, Gambia and Nigeria, which led to the peaceful elections in 2015 general elections.[11]
