Joplin[edit]

Thanks again for letting this Joplin discussion be a pleasant one. I admit I did think "oh here we go again." However, I knew you weren't the person with whom we battled. Your style proved that. I've asked another editor to come in and comment on removing that section. The article is still in need of trimming and polishing. It is quite wordy and goes into a lot more detail than necessary. One of my regular comments to the editor with whom we were dealing was "if you want to write a book about her, go do it." One of the tenets of WP policy is no original research, which includes taking data from two different sources and crafting them together to imply meaning that isn't extant elsewhere. It happened over several articles, including Joplin, Karyn Kupcinet, Dorothy Kilgallen, and Johnnie Ray. A huge fight was had over whether we could say Ray was at least ambivalent in his sexuality, with the primary argument from the other side being "He got married. That's all we know. He was straight." Geez. All of this is why it probably seemed liking I was jumping all over it, which I probably was. In any ase, welcome to Wikipedia, and hopefully we'll work together on some things.
