Scream all you want, but I'll never hear,

Believe it or not, it's archived!

Any chance of protecting Extreme Associates and Rob Zicari as well please, as he's spamming them too [1]. If you wouldn't mind blocking the IP as well to save me reporting it to AIV that would be great too? Thanks. One Night In Hackney303 05:15, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. He's quite helpful in terms of identifying open proxies, plus the multiple IPs means it's a no questions asked spam blacklist as well. One Night In Hackney303 05:17, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Bibliotecarios in Spanish language Wikipedia.

As you already know, in Spanish language Wikipedia a Bibliotecario is both a sysop and a bureaucrat. It was implemented long before I became a bibliotecario, so I don't remember where the policy came from, however I heard that, at the begining, it had a purpose of having a better response to fight vadalism, when the number of sysops were low: if any sysop was also a bureaucrat, in the event of a massive vandalism, any sysop in guard could promote other trusted fellow users to sysopship (temporally).

I don't know if this was ever necesary. However it is now implied, when ellecting a bibliotecario, that the ellected user will have both sysop and bureaucrat powers.

There is a potential risk, however. Some user with a destructive agenda could win the trust of the community and get elected bibliotecario before acting. Then, with the bureaucrat powers, he or she could promote sysopship to fellow vandals and produce havoc. This has not happened, but we know, when we vote, that we are giving this kind of trust to any ellected bibliotecario.

Regards
Carlos Th (talk) 04:42, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

P.D. I have realized, however, that despite the power, a sysop is not a notable wikipedian. A sysop is someone with an extra power to enforce wiki policies: block/unblock users, protect/unprotect pages, and edit protected pages. A sysop should not be ellected based on contributions to the wiki project, but based on how trustable he or she (or it) is in enforcing policies.
Ditto for a bureaucrat. You only have to trust a new bureaucrat enough not to promote sysopship or bureaucratship (or botship) of other users except in the terms stated by current policies. bureaucratship is not (should not be) a way to praise a good sysop, neither sysopship is a way to praise a good wikipedian.
This is, however, my personal opinion, not necesarily the current policy in Spanish language Wikipedia.

My RfA

Thank you for your support in my my recent RfA in which I withdrew because the oppose votes were almost equalling the supporters. I then decided to leave my account (Tellyaddict) and start fresh under a new username, however I quickly decided to reconsider after another user persuaded me not to leave the account - I am now glad I did reconsider because leaving that account and creating a new one was too hasty so I've decided to improve rather than starting again! I hope we can remain civil and that there were no negative feelings caused. Again, thanks for your support even though I withdrew it, your vote is much appreciated! Special note to spamlist users: Apologies for the formatting issues in previous issues. This only recently became a problem due to a change in HTML Tidy; however, I am to blame on this issue. Sorry, and all messages from this one forward should be fine (I hope!) -Ral315
