User talk:SGSBJA
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, SGSBJA, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Jennifer Aaker, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

hi Drmies, I'm not affiliated with Stanford, I was asked to research a professor for a report, learn about them and then review their wikipedia to compare facts and even suggest updates. Since I'm new to this, I wanted to add links to prove my sources but it seems like they weren't the right ones. Any tips you can suggest so that I use acceptable ones. - You took the advice to be BOLD and made some changes. Unfortunately, they had to be undone for a variety of reasons. While Wikipedia is known for anyone can edit the changes, even good-faith changes like yours, are subjected to a bunch of policy and content rules enforced by the community. It takes some time to learn the ins and outs - references vs external links, neutral writing, even picking a suitable subject - these are all skills that you can develop.
- If, after considering Drmies's comments, you would like to discuss them, the place to do that is on the talk page Talk:Jennifer Aaker. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 23:10, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- SGSBJA, I have never really understood how editors come here with a perfect understanding of formatting, how to insert external URLs inside of text for instance, but claim to have no idea about what an encyclopedia is, what reliable secondary sources are, what might be considered promotional writing, and what the rules and guidelines are for editing if one has a conflict of interest or appears to have one.
There is an entire message full of helpful links on this talk page. One of them is even in bold print. Drmies (talk) 23:52, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- I blocked User talk:WikiECJM. It is not clear at all why you needed that when, after creating it, you posted here. Drmies (talk) 23:55, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

Drmies, one of the recommendations you made on the talk page above was to create a new account, I returned to this page so that I could be clearer and confirm the resources. So I'm not sure why you blocked it. It seems to conflict the recommendation made to create a new one. Please unblock it so that I can follow the process correctly from there.
