Identification of photo
[edit]Hi, sorry, I first said that File:Echinocereus cactus.jpg was a Haworthia, but it is actually Aristaloe aristata, which I should have spotted immediately, as I grow it. Compare your photo to File:AristAloe aristata - sutherland variety.jpg. Peter coxhead (talk) 05:53, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to upload unencyclopedic images, as you did at Bougainvillea, you may be blocked from editing. Please stop adding your personal image files to articles when there are already plentiful images for the topic. When you choose images, think first if they are adding unique information for the article. You appear to be using Wikipedia to upload your favorite pictures; WP:NOTGALLERY. - May I second the message immediately above. Please do not add images just because you have some good photos. Only add photos if they add something to the article which isn't already there and it provides more encyclopaedic value. We often have far too many photos in articles, especially those about flowering plants. Adding extra ones, especially where they are technically inferior to those already present, is disruptive and just causes extra work for other editors. Thank you. - Hello, @Zefr:,@Velella: Sorry for the inconvenience caused due to my current edits on Wikipedia articles. I am a new user on Wikipedia from Nepal. Since from my current edits being reverted time and again I have found out that I do not have enough knowledge about adding useful images and editing Wikipedia articles. So, I would like to know what kind of images are useful for Wikipedia articles especially related to Flora and Fauna, and want to know more about the useful ways of editing Wikipedia articles. - You appear to have diverse photographic interests in botany and insects, and your pictures are mostly excellent in quality. So there is certainly value you offer the encyclopedia. But to date, the main impression one would have on reviewing your additions of pictures to various article galleries is that you are depositing your favorite images there, much like one would do in creating a personal album. WP:NOTGALLERY explains why this is discouraged; too many pictures dilute attention to the purpose of the encyclopedia: giving precise knowledge about the article subject. I suggest you ask yourself before adding an image: "is this unique in some way, does it highlight a feature explained in the article (that can be captured in the caption) or add unique knowledge through the picture?" In other words, challenge yourself to be selective and encyclopedic - that is, use adding a picture to create educational information. Good luck. Zefr (talk) 14:59, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

- May I also add that Wikipedia has relatively few good quality images of topics in Nepal, except for the obvious tourist hot-spots, We are also often missing important images of native plants, especially images that help in identification such as good images of leaves, flowering parts, seeds etc. Many native plants are not as showy or glamorous as their horticultural cousins but are equally important - they do not to be precisely identified - having the wrong image attributed to a plant is most unhelpful!
