— Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 10:57, 14 November 2018 (UTC)Related to discussion your Talk:Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus
[edit]@Saqibkhan2504: Hi, again. I want to continue my comment from Talk:Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus with you here to get a better idea of exactly what you are implying.
Are you saying that there should be a new section on the page Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus with the heading "Controversies" or "Counter arguments" which include the points you are mentioning? Isn't the information you are taking into consideration already on the page under the heading "Assessments"?
Also, I would insist you be a little less lazy :D :D and search whether the page exists or not...Human rights violations in Balochistan - i had not included it in the list because we are just talking about Kashmir.
DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 17:27, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
@DiplomatTesterMan: I understood your point of bringing attention to other articles :D, bringing up Baluchistan was a bit of sarcasm. As for the original topic on exodus, I am not denying that it didn't happen, I am rather questioning the motives behind writing this article in a certain way that it potrays one group as victim as a whole and others as oppressors. It needs to be rewritten by a nuetral person or otherwise merged with Kashmir conflict.
- @Saqibkhan2504: Ok, forget the motives for a moment behind what other editors are doing. I want to know how you would change the article to make it better or how the language can be changed to make it neutral ( Wikipedia:Neutral point of view ).
- Do you know how to use your sandbox? User:Saqibkhan2504/sandbox. If yes, please elaborate exactly what you want to add to the article Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in it or the changes you would make. And here I mean with proper referencing and the exact language and sourcing you would use. If you don't know how to use the sandbox please see Wikipedia:Sandbox or just ask, I will create it for you, and then you can edit it. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 18:00, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
- You are allowed to open a discussion for merge too, but I think it is best to sort out the other issues you have with the article first since merge won't address this. On a lighter note also, I wonder how your know of the term "merge"? DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 18:06, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
@DiplomatTesterMan: I would like to remove references of Tej K Tikkoo and Indian media references. It will take much time to gather references which are accepted as unbiased by most people here, still i will try to find them and post them here. And one thing, u might have observed the behaviour of Jaydayal, its was unexpected and childish. After our little discussion, as he didn't have any valid points to say, he started messing up my contents. I am really trying to get hold of things here, i dont understand most things yet, but is there a way to make him block from doing that?
- @Saqibkhan2504: ONE: Are these the reference to Tej K Tikkoo are talking about?
- Tikoo, Colonel Tej K (2012), Kashmir: Its Aborigines and Their Exodus, Lancer Publishers LLC, pp. 281–, ISBN 978-1-935501-58-9
- Col. Tej Kumar Tikoo (19 January 2015). "Kashmiri Pandits offered three choices by Radical Islamists". Indian Defence Review. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 18:57, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
- Question: Why does reference to Tej K Tikkoo need to be removed? (It may seem obvious to you, but then you have to justify it properly so that I can also understand why and for others to see the strength in the reasoning. I think I can understand your reasons, but I would like you to mention them.)
- TWO: The problem you have with the Indian media references.... I will comment on this after you answer the above question.
- THREE: Ques When you say, "he started messing up my contents" are you talking about edits to Khanyar.
- FOUR: I would urge you to just focus on what you hope to achieve on Wikipedia and the task at hand. I think you have seen that the method you tried on the talk page to make changes to the article did not work, so try something else. I am suggesting different ways to address this. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 18:57, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
- @DiplomatTesterMan: For part ONE please refer to exodus talk. Part THREE, yes, Khanyar. FOUR I am just getting started here. And please express your opinions about the third point.
@DiplomatTesterMan: am I not supposed to know about merge?
- Haha lol, you can know about the term. But I was surprised you knew it in the Wikipedia context. I was just a little surprised because I saw how many edits you have made with this account, only 63 so far. I remember when I started editing Wikipedia I wasn't familiar with the term that quickly. (I hope this is the only account you are using to edit, because using multiple accounts is a problem here) Anyway, that is why I said on a lighter note. :D DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 18:32, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
- @DiplomatTesterMan: wasn't serious either. You didn't reply to previous question?
- One thing at a time. :D See above. You can also answer questions in parts if you want since you are raising multiple points. And I take my time to edit and comment, especially since the article you have chosen you critique requires a careful detailed consideration for any changes to be made, especially substantial ones. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 19:14, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
- @DiplomatTesterMan: wasn't serious either. You didn't reply to previous question?
- I just want to say that it is late here and this discussion will not be over today. I need to sleep too! :D But over the next few days I will keep this discussion going and let's see how we can improve the article! If I don't comment now, just be patient. Meanwhile why don't you try making edits in less controversial topics too. Also if you live in Kashmir, it would be wonderful if you could take photographs to upload into Wikipedia (even mobile ones if the resolution is ok), there are so many articles on Kashmir which need more photographs! Related to "Tej K Tikkoo" sources on Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus
[edit]As per above, you have said to "please refer to exodus talk". So this is what you wrote on the talk page:
"For reference please refer to the other articles written by Colonel Tej K Tikkoo, he has always been blind to the sufferings of normal Kashmiri people. He raises voices when only a defence personel is killed and wails over what will happen to his family. What about the fourty thousand families that were deprived of their members? Well if you have a little bit more of an understanding than most, you would've understood his intentions."
Analysis
- Related to the source being biased. Please see Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources section WP:BIASEDSOURCES -
"Wikipedia articles are required to present a neutral point of view. However, reliable sources are not required to be neutral, unbiased, or objective. Sometimes non-neutral sources are the best possible sources for supporting information about the different viewpoints held on a subject."
So the argument that the source (Colonel Tej K Tikkoo) is biased or non neutral is not a good argument according to Wikipedia policy. Colonel Tej K Tikkoo can have his own opinion and this can be used.
- BUT, is the publication reliable?
The publications used are:
- Tikoo, Colonel Tej K (2012), Kashmir: Its Aborigines and Their Exodus, Lancer Publishers LLC, pp. 281–, ISBN 978-1-935501-58-9
- Col. Tej Kumar Tikoo (19 January 2015). "Kashmiri Pandits offered three choices by Radical Islamists". Indian Defence Review.
Is Lancer Publishers LLC and Indian Defence Review also a division of Lancer Publishers and Distributors reliable? (Lancer Publishers & Distributors) Just because it is a military publishing house run by military personal, that does not make it unreliable. So unless you have sources with state the same, they need to be identified or unless you can identify a Wikipedia policy which makes them unsuitable, it will need to be listed. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 19:22, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
@Saqibkhan2504: Any user can make edits to Wikipedia pages so long as they follow Wikipedia guidelines (a very large list including a guideline which says do not follow our guidelines :D :D). Are users making changes to the page with don't follow guidelines? DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 19:22, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
