Cities and towns in Lebanon[edit]
Hi. I noticed you're moving a lot of the cities and towns in Lebanon into this category. The category "Settlements in Lebanon" was formerly named "Cities and villages in Lebanon", but was renamed to meet naming conventions. I don't think it makes sense to have both of these categories... — George [talk] 21:37, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- "Cities and towns" is very much within the naming conventions. Look at Category:cities by country and you will see there are many such categories, all of which are for countries that also have a settlements category. There are no (zero) countries that only have an undivided settlements category. However "cities and villages" is not within the naming conventions because it has a gap in the middle. - Category:Cities by country is a subcategory of Category:Settlements by country. The relevant CFD was held here. I think it would be fine to categorize the cities in Lebanon in Category:Cities in Lebanon, and the towns in Lebanon into Category:Towns in Lebanon, but to create a new merged category so soon after the last one was renamed doesn't seem to make sense. The biggest problem is likely going to be that there isn't any information available about what officially constitutes a city in Lebanon, what constitutes a town, and what constitutes a village. — George [talk] 23:40, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
