Your edits
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added to the page National Collegiate Athletic Association do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.
- I would like you to read WP:COI and WP:NOT. You (and apparently others) are clearly editing to gain support for your cause on wikipedia. --Dirk Beetstra T C 09:57, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- I have reported the link to WT:WPSPAM (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Spam#saveousports.org) --Dirk Beetstra T C 10:02, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, Save OU Sports! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule saveousports\.org, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links policy for more information. If the link was to an image, please read Wikipedia's image tutorial on how to use a more appropriate method to insert the image into an article. If your link was intended to promote a site you own, are affiliated with, or will make money from inclusion in Wikipedia, please note that inserting spam into Wikipedia is against policy. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Shadowbot 12:16, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Some links that might help
[edit]As a new editor on Wikipedia, all the policies and guidelines can be somewhat overwhelming. Here are a few that I think are especially pertinent to your recent edits:
- Notability - describes how "All topics should meet a minimum threshold of notability."
- Conflict of interest - describes guidelines for conflicts of interest.
- WP:SPAM - covers issues of promotion and advertising.
- WP:SOURCE - how to properly source content, and what content is allowed.
- WP:EL - covers external links.
- WP:NPOV - describes how "All Wikipedia articles and other encyclopedic content must be written from a neutral point of view, representing views fairly, proportionately and without bias."
- WP:NOT - describes what Wikipedia is not. It's a long article, but please consider reading WP:NOT#SOAPBOX, WP:NOT#OR, and WP:NOT#BATTLEGROUND.
