Speedy deletion nomination of Andrew Alexander Price[edit]

A tag has been placed on Andrew Alexander Price requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

Notability[edit]

I have userfied the article for you to User:SavvieChick/Andrew Alexander Price, and you can work on it there, and ask for comments at WP:Requests for feedback. When you think it is ready, you can either move it back into the main encyclopedia, or propose it at WP:Articles for creation, where it will either be accepted or you will be given more advice.

I must warn you, though, that I think it very unlikely that this young man is notable to Wikipedia's standard. Bear in mind that we are an encyclopedia, not any kind of listing directory; the notability requirement is for "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones, things he wrote and anything based on press releases. See also WP:42. The key is significant comment - the test is, have people independent of him thought him significant and important enough to write substantial comment about him? If not, no amount of references to sites which show him among competitors, or refer to a game he helped write, will be enough - see WP:AMOUNT.

By the way, the WP:Verifiability policy means that you should not make a claim like "known for his exceptional skills in programming" unless you can cite a reliable source for it.

The existing references are: his own website; a proposal he wrote; a sort of blog about some student projects he took part in. They show he exists and is doing those sort of things, but they show no notability at all, and twenty more references of that type will not help. I am sorry to be discouraging, but from what you say I am afraid you are hoping that collecting more and more references from the places where "His work is often found through his website, projects, competitions, and forums" will make him seem notable. Absent the substantial independent comment, it won't. I would not like you to have the frustrating experience of spending a lot of time on this to no avail.
