Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Abu Hamza al-Masri do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. THE AMERICAN METROSEXUAL 18:26, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia, because it appears to be mainly intended or used for promotional purposes of a company or group. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

In addition, accounts are for individuals only, not for companies or groups or other collective editing, and your username should reflect this.

Wikipedia is not a promotion website; this kind of activity is considered spam on Wikipedia, and forbidden by policies, and usernames that appear to be promotional also violate our username policy. Editing on Wikipedia is not intended to be used to promote anyone, or anything, and its use for that purpose will result in blocking of the account involved.

If you feel that there has been a mistake, please appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below or contacting the administrator who has blocked you. Your reason should include a clear response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy. Please check that your new username has not already been taken here. Mfield (Oi!) 18:29, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Please can you look at unblocking my account, I can change my username nickmann1982 if thats ok with you. Also my reason for unblocking is that I'm putting links on the external page that give indepth information that can further the experience of the person reading that wiki page. I write a blog about security issues, terrorism and much more. My site is informative and will add to the already excellent wiki pages. My pages have been used by CNN so someone thinks that what I write is of use!! Anyway I hope that you can lift the block. Thanks Nick

Decline reason:

Wikipedia editors do not write about themselves or link to their own web pages. Since that appears, from this request, to be all you wanted to do on Wikipedia, you don't appear to need an active account at this time. FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:58, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Thanks for getting back to me, I've had a look at the Conflict of interest page and don't feel that there is one. The COI page states - "Where advancing outside interests is more important to an editor than advancing the aims of Wikipedia, that editor stands in a conflict of interest." As the links I've put are realted to the wiki pages, don't make any money, have been carefully written by someone considered to be an expert I don't see how this could be a conflict of interest. The site gets lots of interest and is advertised by CNN on their site as an important read in the field so the interest in my postings are for the good of Wiki not any other site.

Decline reason:

Ok, it is honestly not that big of a deal; you linked to your site once. That was inappropriate, and you do have a conflict of interest (you don't have to be making money for it to be an issue to us: even a stake in your site's reputation is problematic); if the link is a good one it should not be placed there by the site owner or someone affiliated. I'm willing to let that go with a warning... but your username also a problem, group or company names are often considered promotional, and there are other issues as well. If you are willing to change username, please pick a new, personal username, and you can be unblocked. I do, however, expect you to refrain from posting links to your own site: if you feel they are appropriate (and they may well be) the best thing is to propose the link at the talk page of the article, and mention your conflict of interest up front. {{unblock|Thanks for that MangoJuice, that is good of you and I take note! I'm just having a problem changing my username, all seems a bit complex to me. If someone can do this for me that would be great or tell me how and where? I would like to use the username nickmann1982 thanks.}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):
