I have a lot of links provided to me by Ambassador Waheedullah to substantiate his biographic page. However I cannot translate them. Can I put his website down as an external link for those who speak Persian/Farsi? http://www.google.com/search?hl=tr&lr=&q=وحید+وحیدالله&start=0&sa=N
Speedy deletion nomination of H.E. Waheed Waheedullah
[edit]A tag has been placed on H.E. Waheed Waheedullah requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]You must provide independent references to the people and organisations you are writing about. For example in Harold HyunSuk Oh, links to WWO and WEF are OK but they provide absolutely no evidence that the guy is notable. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:20, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks Rhaworth. Please see the added footnotes to provide evidence of notability. Shannon.barnes (talk) 17:10, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit]If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article The World Water Organization, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. This notice is per your LinkedIn page... "Reliable sources"
[edit]You really need to read WP:RS before you carry on editing these pages you've created. Links to someone's powerpoint presentation won't be acceptable. If you can't produce proper secondary sources supporting the claims you are relating, the articles will be deleted and you will have wasted your time here. (Since you say you have a master's degree, I take it you know what a secondary source is.) Why am I not being more friendly? Because you are blithely ignoring the conflict of interest issue despite being advised of it. if you want to respond, do so here, not on my talk page -- I'll check back. Some friendly advice
[edit]I appreciate that it must be very frustrating for you at the moment with the deletion review of H.E. Waheed Waheedullah and potentially other articles that you have created or are working on. As you appear to be new, I thought I would drop by and offer a few words of friendly advice.
- Start off by reading writing your first article and how to start an article. There are overlaps between the two, the first being directed at new users such as yourself.
- Biographies of living people are subject to intense scrutiny on Wikipedia, and many of the policies and guidelines have been endorsed not only by the Wikipedia community but the Wikimedia Foundation. Reliable sourcing is one of the many essential requirements for any BLP. I would suggest that you take the time to read our main policy on WP:BLP thoroughly.
- If you have a conflict of interest, this does not preclude you from making edits to an article. However, if you review WP:COI you will gain some insight into why being affiliated to an organisation may make it difficult to write from a neutral point of view.
- Once an article is published in article mainspace, it will be reviewed immediately by fellow Wikipedians, especially from those of us on New Page Patrol. It may be better to work quietly and at your own pace on your article in your userspace, sourcing the article to Wikipedia standards, before moving the article to mainspace.
There are many, many more policies and guidelines to which I could point you, but my intention is not to overwhelm you with information. I have tried to identify a few salient points that seem to apply to the The World Water Organization and H.E. Waheed Waheedullah articles which you created, and are up for review.
Please do not be discouraged. Just remember, like any serious organisation which publishes material, Wikipedia has policies and guidelines which apply in order to maintain quality. If you take the time to review the main points I outlined, and use these to improve the two articles nominated for deletion and any future articles you create, you will be well on your way. -- Александр Дмитрий (Alexandr Dmitri) (talk) 10:17, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
how to rewrite
[edit]Some further specific advice. You need to write like an encyclopedia article, not a press release: say what you do in concise nonrepetitive language without use of public relations phrases, like "around the world" -- an international organization will normally have projects around the world. do not list all the members of the Board--only the chairman. Do not duplicate long mission statements in the infobox. if you reuse material from your website, besides needing to give us permission according to WP:DCM, the tone with not be encyclopedic and the material will need extensive rewriting. And learn our syntax: we use a specialized version of html, in which we do not normally use
tags for formatting, and with special formatting for numbered and unnumbered lists--normal html usually works OK, but it shows lack of familiarity. For further information, besides the pages mentioned above, see our FAQ about organisations.
In order to get you started, I partially rewrote the page on the organization. It needs some further work, but do not add back what I removed--try instead to see why I removed it.
For articles about people, give the specifics. List their main published work exactly. A statement like "Waheedullah identified “The Cause” and “The Legacies” of the conflicts in Afghanistan and the former Republics of Yugoslavia, and was a key architect in designing the solutions for these crises" needs to have references saying so from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, If he published anything in connection with it, give the references for them also. And include some basic bio: birthplace and date at least. The key point of notability for him is "serving as the Head of the UN Regional Office in the Balkans, " -- this is a very major position, and should be emphasized and referenced. His education and earlier positions should be listed together briefly in chronological order or reverse chronological order. When you rewrite the article, it will stand if you have good references, and not otherwise. Some of them should be from outside the UN and its agencies. By the way, the reference are fine in any language; the external links need to be in English.
