Midnight (or 24:00 in 24 hr clock time) is the END of a day (and, if you like, the beginning of the NEXT day). So midnight on Dec 31 (New Year's Eve) is the moment the old year ends and the new year begins. Midnight on Jan 1 (New Year's Day) is followed by Jan 2, which while a day like any other is NOT what we celebrate when we sing Auld Lang Syne - nor the time we do it. Honest mistake, I'm sure, but not one to be persisted in - especially when it has been pointed out. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 22:16, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
