Notability of ROBC

[edit]

You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

The article ROBC has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. —C.Fred (talk) 15:03, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as ROBC, to Wikipedia, as doing so is not in accordance with our policies. For more information about creating articles, you may want to read Wikipedia:Your first article; you might also consider using the Article Wizard. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Online gaming clans are rarely, if ever, notable. Please do not attempt to recreate the article unless you can show that they have gotten significant coverage in secondary sources such as gaming magazines. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 15:14, 14 September 2011 (UTC) \[reply]

Status and Advice

[edit]

on the now deleted talk p: This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because it is about a group of young men from Ohio with jobs and families who participate in online gaming. The ROBC is relevant because they have been established in the online gaming world for 4 years now. People who compete against the ROBC need to know who they are so it is important for individuals with interest in the ROBC to find out more. We're talking about millions of people that the ROBC might encounter each year, therefore it should be general public knowledge who they are. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shawn.kasych (talk • contribs) 15:15, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

and were correctly replied to:

The article was deleted for failing to assert the significance or importance of the group. Online gaming clans are rarely, if ever, notable. To show this is an exception, show that they meet the general notability guidelines and have been written about in independent reliable sources.

I add:

Please note that your reasons fof assertions are frankly promotional, and this is not permitted. You say in so many words that the purpose of the page is to tell new prospective users about the game. That's the purpose of advertising, not an encyclopedia . DGG ( talk ) 17:22, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm AquilaFasciata. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. - AquilaFasciata (talk | contribs) 17:57, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
