Please read the answers

[edit]

You have been asking many questions at the Help Desk, but it looks as if you haven't been reading the answers carefully enough. People have been giving you clear instructions, and they have been giving links to where further information is available. Please take the time to read the advice you have been given, and to follow the links which you have been given (including those in the Welcome message at the top of this page). The information is there if you read it. - David Biddulph (talk) 20:08, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sub-categories

[edit]

Here comes the next complication! If you go to the Category:Plasma physics page you'll see that at the top there are nine "sub-categories" - and if you click those you may find "sub-sub-categories", and so on. Now, the usual rule here is that if an article is in a sub-category it shouldn't also be in the main category. So your edit at Plasma arc waste disposal is technically incorrect, I'm afraid, because Category:Plasma processing is a sub-category of Category:Plasma physics.

I don't see this mentioned anywhere at Wikipedia:FAQ/Categorization, but it is mentioned at Wikipedia:Categorization#Categorizing pages if you want to read about it. -- John of Reading (talk) 20:40, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh sorry thanks is there a way to put these articles linking to plasma category with out being in plasma category. Or is that not good to do. This is why I created List of plasma (physics) applications articles so You could see all elements of plasma physics instead of having to find them in sub categories and some sub categories dont have all plasma actions equations and sources. Still debating about the name do You have any ideas.Shawn Worthington Laser Plasma (talk) 20:51, 23 November 2011 (UTC) Plasma oscillation is still there to in plasma physics category there's a sub category saying waves in plasma that has plasma oscillation is that in exception is it allowed as long as its notable. Can some plasma words be an exception to be added. Maybe as long as plasma physics category doesn't get to big its possibly good to add more plasma words or is that a rule not to do that.Shawn Worthington Laser Plasma (talk) 20:57, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Provided the article is in one of the sub-categories, sub-sub-categories, etc, then there is no need to link it to Category:Plasma physics. If a reader jumps from an article to a sub-category page, such as Category:Plasma processing, then the "parent" categories are listed at the bottom (There are three in this case). This is one of the standard ways in which Wikipedia articles are linked together by subject-matter.
Yes, Plasma oscillation is in both the parent category and the sub-category. The parent category was added in this edit in 2006. I can't tell if this was a mistake, or was deliberately added as an exception.
I don't think you should add any more "See also" links to your new article without further discussion with more physics specialists, perhaps at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Physics. That would be a good forum to discuss the best name for the article, too, before adding many links that will have to be changed if the article is renamed again. -- John of Reading (talk) 22:03, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited List of plasma (physics) articles, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page WHP (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thenceforth I haven't been able to figure out what is the intended use thereof exactly but it definitely means something.

Halo plasma was my brothers account that I told him to comment on his own will on my articles about to be deleted, plasma laser is my other account I use for a extra watch list.Shawn Worthington Laser Plasma (talk) 06:05, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

From WP:MEAT:"Do not recruit your friends, family members, or communities of people who agree with you for the purpose of coming to Wikipedia and supporting your side of a debate. If you feel that a debate is ignoring your voice, remain civil, and seek comments from other Wikipedians or pursue dispute resolution. These are well-tested processes, designed to avoid the problem of exchanging bias in one direction for bias in another."

I have therefore blocked your brother's account as it is obvious violation of this policy. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:06, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
