List of NX Bus Routes

[edit]

Hi,

As much as I would like such details to be included, please only list service changes which affect the page concerned.

For instance, the 8 & 205 route changes don't change the areas served and should not be listed. This is in order to comply with Wikipedia guidelines, as on previous occasions the page has been proposed for deletion for such reasons.

Also, I'm unsure if this is you, but the Notes column should be used for information that differentiates that service. For example, it is generally excepted that most buses run Monday - Saturday or Daytimes & Evenings so this shouldn't be listed. Please only list items that make that service special such as 'Peak Times only', 'Evenings/Sundays only' and 'This Direction only' etc, as otherwise it could be deemed to be too far into advertising services.

Your contributions to the page are greatly accepted, and as I said I'm only thinking about the long term future of the page!

Thanks for the clarification, and no, I'm not the only guilty party you're referring to! I have done my fair share of editing out some useless and irrelevant information from this page in the past. I do agree with what you say about route change information, however I do only try to include route changes that have significant changes (for example where a route is being withdrawn, or drastically changed), and avoid 'minor timetable change' updates. And I only post information where it can be cross-referenced against 'genuine' information (ie when this information is posted on either the official NXWM or Network West Midlands websites). Too many time before, especially in advance of network reviews, where people have posted random speculation. I do feel that the forthcoming service 8A/C change is significant, espcially as it will no longer serve the Edgbaston Monument Road/Hagley Road area.

List of NXWM Bus Routes

[edit]

Hi,

With the review this weekend I am keen to hear your views on something.

With most services now being in the 0-99 range, would it perhaps be clearer to list the page by Garages, rather than numerical order?

Obviously it functions fine as it is, but with so many duplicates and very few 300s and 500s I just wondered if you felt it needed rearranging somehow?

Thanks Verseshown (talk) 14:01, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking exactly the same thing! I'm not sure either how NXWM think it is a good idea to renumber different area routes in this way.

I've been starting to think it might be easier on this page if the routes were listed by 'area', rather than by number.

For example:

Birmingham & Solihull services (containing the original 1-199 numberings)

Dudley area services (containing the existing 200-299 numberings, as well as the X96?)

Walsall area services (containg the 'new' Walsall 1-99 numberings, as well as any existing 300-399 numberings)

West Bromwich area services (containg the existing 400-499 numberings)

Wolverhampton area services (containing the 'new' Wolverhampton 1-99 numberings, as well as any existing 500-599 numberings)

School & Works services (containing the existing 700-899 numberings)

It might also be worth incorporating any 600-699 and 900-999 numberings into the above categories. Its a bit difficult to categorise these routes as 'limited stop' or 'express' services, as the 966 is an obvious exception, likewise for the 636 service as it is neither a 'mini-bus' or 'subsidised' service any more.

Looking forward to hearing your input! Showbizkid (talk) 19:16, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I did originally think of arranging it as you suggested, however certain routes although being numbered and serving one area, continue on to another. Would they be included in both, or just the 'historical' section?
