August 2023[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:08, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hi there, I saw that the company I work for has a Wikipedia page, and it is out of date. My intention was to update the information so it was accurate, as we are a nonprofit with historical placement in the local community. If I am unblocked, I will try to republish the adjustments but only because it’s not correct (the name changed). Because I work here, I will get my standard pay since I'm clocked in, but nothing special or incentivized. I now understand that using the organization name can be considered for advertising, but I originally didn't realize it would be seen as such. I will also use this account to update any page that I see that needs accurate and factual details for the purpose of informing people of details, and not any type of promotion or nefarious reasons.

Decline reason:

You have a misunderstanding; your company does not have a Wikipedia page; Wikipedia has an article about your company. Your company has no more rights to it than any other editor. You still meet out definition of a paid editor, it does not require specific payments for edits. Please read WP:COI and tell us how your edits will be consistent with that policy, and also describe what other topics you might edit. 331dot (talk) 19:32, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize! I see that I am not entitled to update the page, simply because I work here. I can send a request to the talk page with a COI connected contributor paid template, to make sure my account is disclosed properly. I will make sure that I clearly state that I am an employee of this organization, and that I only intended to update the historical information related to the page. I would have made the same edits (or suggestions) for any other org that I have no affiliation to. I would update topics related to, other LGBT type categories, things related to kpop and kdramas, actors and other musicians. Additionally, if there was a recent event that hadn't been updated, I would add and source new details that I found, as a contributor to Wikipedia articles. I will make sure that I clearly state that I am an employee of this organization, and that I only intended to update the historical information related to the page. Rainbow Health Initiative no longer exists, and that logo no longer exists. That is the only change. I did not create and I do not know the community member that originally published it. I would have made the same edits (or suggestions) for any other org that I have no affiliation to. I would update topics related to, other LGBT type categories, things related to kpop and kdramas, actors, wrestling entertainers and other musicians. Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action, or you have not responded to questions raised during that time. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that
  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.
Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Voice of Clam (talk) 07:48, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for asking, Tamzin. No objection to the unblock, leave it to you to set suitable conditions; the user seems to understand the requirement for appropriate disclosure. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:35, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
