Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 18:07, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Citation templates

[edit]

Hello again! Just FYI, there are tons of citation templates (such as {{cite website}} and {{cite news}}) that could be used in the Michael Pliuskaitis article. They are not required, but look good :) Here is an example:

*{{cite news |title=Club swimming: Look for SNOW totals to increase |author=Carl Lukat
|url=http://ww2.fairfaxtimes.com/cms/archivestory.php?id=221665 |newspaper=[[Fairfax Times]]
|date=28 February 2007 |accessdate=25 June 2013}}

...will be displayed as:

  • Carl Lukat (28 February 2007). "Club swimming: Look for SNOW totals to increase". Fairfax Times. Retrieved 25 June 2013.

Looks much, much better, thank you for your help.

Michael Pliuskaitis

[edit]

Hi Snowswimmer. Some of the material you added to the article Michael Pliuskaitis leads me to believe that you may have first hand knowledge of the person and organisations discussed therein. Also, your user name is a match for the name of one of the swimming orgainisations where Pliuskaitis has worked! While we welcome most contributions to the encyclopedia, people who work for an organisation are discouraged from editing the article about that organisation. Notable people and their relatives are asked not to edit their own articles or articles where they may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible. There's more information on this topic at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. -- Diannaa (talk) 21:57, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Diannaa, thank you so much for correcting the page according to how it needed to be corrected, I really appreciate your help. Although I don't have first-hand knowledge of the situation and only have information from what I have read in the news about the topic, I understand your concerns about my username and see how it would lead you to believe I have any knowledge other than what I have read in the news. I am happy to see the page looking the way it is now and will no longer edit the page now that the information is as it stands. Again, thank you for your editing help to make the page much better than it was prior. Snowswimmer (talk) 22:05, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I will watchlist the page and make sure it stays in good condition. Best, -- Diannaa (talk) 02:09, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
