If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

[edit]

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Allowing username change to Sopranyc. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

As a new user of Wikipedia, I was not aware of the username rule referred to here. My username was intended to be transparent; I have nothing to hide. As you can see from the discussion page and from the history, I have already called for independent editorial help to resolve problems with this page. Another editor has been posting unsubstantiated, accusatory, inflammatory, and inaccurate statements about the Better Business Bureau on the Wikipedia page about that organization. This editor clearly is angry at BBB and appears to be pursuing some kind of vendetta. My postings have taken the other person's view into account but have also tried to correct misrepresentations; the other editor repeatedly deletes them. I am surprised that Wikipedia would tolerate the wildly inflammatory accusations about BBB that I saw posted here by the other editor. There seems to be a very long history of that happening on this page. I don't object to remaining blocked on this one Wikipedia page - IF the other editor is also blocked. If that person remains free to continue posting incorrect and improper statements, then I do object to being blocked. My preference would be for third parties with completely independent judgment to resolve the situation completely by editing the page for accuracy, removing any improper material, and taking steps to prevent that sort of thing in the future, so I can stop spending time on this.

Decline reason:

This doesn't address the issue of you having a username that matches your employer. We can change your name for you; just advise us at to what new name you want. Also, when you are unblocked, what other articles do you plan on editing? east718 // talk // email // 21:19, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The recent edit you made to Better Business Bureau constitutes vandalism, and has been reverted. Please do not continue to vandalize pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you.  Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 15:31, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:Business' FAQ and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.

You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.

Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here.
