Lil Chuckee

[edit]

On Talk:Lil Chuckee you asked: Why was this page deleted? If you click on the "redlink" Lil Chuckee you will see the deletion log showing that it has been deleted seven times, and there is a link to a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lil Chuckee. Wikipedia is quite selective about article subjects: the inclusion criterion is called WP:Notability and depends on showing significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. For musical performers see WP:MUSICBIO.

I looked at the deleted article and apart from one billboard page all the references were to his own Twitter, Facebook, Yotube etc and links to his own mixtapes - nothing to show that anyone not connected with him thought him significant enough to write substantial comment about, which is the notability test. Ok I understand that, I can easily get some references but if I did so, would the article be able to come back up or am I wasting my time?
After the eighth deletion (not seven, I miscounted), the title was salted - protected against creation - so as not to waste any more time. So you cannot create an article directly. If you want to try, what you should do is click on Help:Userspace draft and fill in the title. That will make a draft page in your "user space", not in the main encyclopedia, where you can write an article. When it is ready, ask user King of Hearts (talk), the administrator who closed the deletion discussion, whether he thinks it overcomes the reasons given there for deletion. If he does, he can unprotect the title to allow creation. If he does not, you can appeal at WP:Deletion review.
Before you start, read WP:Your first article for advice, and also read WP:Notability, WP:Notability (summary) and WP:MUSICBIO to understand the requirements. People sometimes waste a lot of time piling up trivial references to try to make someone appear notable who simply is not. Take care to write from a neutral point of view and don't try to "boost" him - an encyclopedia article should not be trying to sell its subject, just to explain what he has actually achieved, plain facts cited to reliable sources.
When you leave a message on a talk page like this, it helps to know who said what when, so you should "sign" it by ending it with a group of four "tilde" characters ~~~~, which the system will convert into a "signature" of your username and the time and date, like this: JohnCD (talk) 23:03, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
