Springfield High School (Tennessee)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Springfield High School (Tennessee), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Springfield High School (Tennessee). Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Barack Obama, did not appear to be constructive and has been removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --GoodDamon 14:40, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm striking that warning, because based on your third edit, I don't think you were actually committing vandalism. However, you should be aware that Barack Obama is a biography of a living person, so has to have strict adherence to WP:BLP (the official policy on such biographies) and WP:RS (the content guideline for choosing reliable sources to cite). I also invite you to read the FAQ on the article's talk page, as well as the probation notice. Welcome to Wikipedia, and I hope you enjoy editing here. --GoodDamon 14:50, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing, such as the edit you made to Barack Obama. If your vandalism continues, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Brothejr (talk) 14:48, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Seymour Swine and the Squealers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste:talk 21:45, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Daily Mirror is a tabloid, making it unacceptable as a source for Wikipedia. Please revert your edit. Thanks. Sundayclose (talk) 20:01, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not the best source for a lot of stories. THE DAILY MIRROR is more spot-on in its articles. Statman99 (talk) 13:40, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Neither Wikipedia nor the Daily Mirror is a reliable source. The fact that Wikipedia is not a reliable source does not make the Daily Mirror "spot-on". Sundayclose (talk) 14:18, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
They have been more correct in their articles, was the point of the "spot-on". Statman99 (talk) 14:40, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your opinion that the Daily Mirror is "more correct" is original research and meaningless on Wikipedia. A broken clock is right twice a day. That doesn't mean it's always right. You clearly don't have a clue about Wikipedia's verifiability policies. If you want to continue editing here and not lose your editing privileges you need to educate yourself about how things work here. Take some time to click the links on this page and actually read policies. Start with WP:Reliable sources/Perennial sources#Daily Mirror. AGAIN, stop making unsourced and poorly sourced edits. Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Jo Byrns High School, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Sundayclose (talk) 14:20, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My father was in the first graduating class at Jo Byrns High School. I know the history of Jo Byrns High School. I lived in the same county as Jo Byrns High School. There are some things you don't need recitation for, you just know them. Statman99 (talk) 14:45, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So, firsthand knowledge is less important than some old worn out newspaper (who is usually wrong, and proven to be)? I'd think someone who lived it would be a better source than something on the tangent. Statman99 (talk) 17:40, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That is exactly correct, you're firsthand knowledge, my firsthand knowledge, and anyone's firsthand knowledge is worthless on Wikipedia. I'm not arguing any more. It's an utter waste of time because you are not here to build an encyclopedia. Read the policies. Sundayclose (talk) 17:50, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Read WP:RS for what a reliable source is. Your personal knowledge is not a reliable source, it's original research. I could claim to be the king of England, but without a reliable source it doesn't belong in Wikipedia. So again, stop making unsourced or poorly sourced edits. 15:40, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
