SPI investigation
[edit]You are suspected of sock puppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Please make yourself familiar with the notes for the suspect, then, if you wish to do so, respond to the evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/AliceQuayle. Thank you..
Based on your recent comments, I have suggested only Sunshineramsey71 is available to you. This is the easiest way to deal with your previous usernames, which you are unable to retire.
If you agree with this, you can comment, for expediency, and it will be more-quickly closed.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 10:22, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
- This seems to have been sorted out by the editor settling on this account, Sunshineramsey71, to be used from now on, with disclosure at the User page here that they previously edited under AliceQuayle (which edited just on one day in 2015) and Sunshineramsey (who began improving the Ramsey, Isle of Man article back in 2013) names. I am inserting a welcome message above, even though you have some experience, because it should make this page look better and it does include useful links to learn from (and maybe you were not welcomed before?). Anyhow, again, welcome! --doncram 07:11, 17 June 2016 (UTC)

How to rename a commons file?
[edit]I saw in your edit history (under Sunshineramsey ) at File talk:Laxey Wheel, September 2015.jpg that you wondered how to rename/correct the name of the file. It is harder than it should be.
After searching and then some study here, and using some experience with Wikipedia / Commons jargon, I think I have it figured out: you just have to put something like: {{rename|New name.jpg|3|Misspelled.}} onto the file's page, over at Commons. The "3" in that is a code which indicates it is "To correct obvious errors in file names, including misspelled proper nouns, incorrect dates, and misidentified objects or organisms."
Steps:
1. You have to do this over at Commons.wikimedia.org, which is the fundamental place, not in a copy of the photo in en.Wikipedia.org. So click to go there: Wheel, September 2015.jpg https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Laxey Wheel, September 2015.jpg.
2. Log in to Commons under your same username as here, if you are not logged in there already
3. At the file page, hit the "Edit" tab and insert somewhere (at top is okay I think) approximately the following:
{{rename|Laxey_Wheel,_September_2015.JPG|3|Because it should be spelled with term "Laxey Wheel". See the wikipedia article [[w:Laxey Wheel]].}}
4. Then wait. I think that an administrator or someone else empowered will make the rename, and do it with tools that ensure all existing usages of the file in the english wikipedia, in any other language wikipedias, etc., are all updated.
I see the original uploader is commons user Tk420, corresponding to wikipedia User:Tk420, which should not be a problem. Maybe the processing person will check with them, but I don't think it's necessary because it is an obvious typo.
Hope this helps. --doncram 07:42, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
- There is a 'Move' tab at Wikimedia Commons, at the top on the right. It's a multiple-choice, drop-down menu. I've requested the move, but it wasn't really a big deal as a simple typographic reversion and the image was already in Commons Category:Laxey Wheel. Needs someone with 'file-moving rights' to complete. Image volunteers are mostly overwhelmed with other checking but this was completed within 15 minutes!--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 13:35, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
