Welcome!

Hello, Susie526, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like User:Poketo, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! ∗ \ / () 09:29, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of User:Poketo[edit]

I'd like to request that my page become unblocked. I have read and understood the reasons why my page has been blocked because of what may have seemed like blatant advertising. I will be much more aware of my contributions in the future and ensure that those mistakes will not happen again. Thank you.

A tag has been placed on User:Poketo, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ∗ \ / () 09:29, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding advertizing[edit]

Per your request to unblock, on IRC; to help you get along with Wikipedia, please read WP:BFAQ.

If you have a conflict of interest with an article, I would strongly recommend two things;

  • a) Don't create the article yet; edit some other articles, 'get into' Wikipedia, and learn how things work first. For example, dive into WP:Community portal, and check the 'Help out' section. Add comments to the talk page of articles, get involved in discussions.
  • b) When you are ready to create the article, and if you can find enough sources, first read WP:COI and WP:BESTCOI. Follow the suggestions there, and you're much more likely to succeed - i.e. don't create it yourself, but instead request that it is created.

Remember that all articles must include secondary sources. For example, I could say on my myspace page that I'm the Queen of Sheba, and use that as a reference; it wouldn't be accepted. I'd have to have a reliable secondary source, such as, for example, a BBC News article about myself and my queenhood. For more info, see WP:V, WP:RS.

If secondary sources are not available to support facts, then those facts have to go. Assuming that you can find secondary sources to prove notability, the article may have to be quite short, for the reasons above.

I sincerely hope that this helps; if you have further questions, you could place another {{helpme}} below here, or ask me directly on my own talk page - but, perhaps best of all, talk to us live.

Good luck with it all,  Chzz  ►  20:05, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How to get a page checked[edit]

Hi there.

If you create a user subpage, you can create an article, mess around with it, and ask someone to check it before putting it into mainspace.

For example, you go to User:Poketo/mytestpage, create that, and fiddle with it there.

When you want it checked, ask someone to look it over - the live chat.

Best of luck,  Chzz  ►  20:31, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:TedAngie.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TedAngie.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 18:11, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Poketo for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Poketo is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Poketo until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion.
