Thank you for the notice. I am not a commercial entity, althoughI used to own a gallery many years ago. As I am (at least initially) mostly interested in editing art and art-related entries from the San Francisco Bay Area, I thought it would be most honest to let people know that I have experience in the art world (although, I must say not much on these computers!). As I have just spent several hours creating what I hope to be my first page and am waiting for it be be reviewed, I would appreciate it if I might keep my sign in name for the time being (the notice said it might take three weeks). If you prefer me to change this once I hear from the reviewer(s) I will be happy too. I am just having a number of challenges navigating this programming language and would like to keep everything the same for now. I will hold off on making additional edits on other pages until I hear back about my curation/status and any necessity to modify my sign-in name.

A few tips re: your submitted article on George Sumner. I don't think it's near an acceptable version at the moment--far too promotional and anecdotal in tone, with largely unsourced sections on collections that must be cut. Thanks JNW, I was looking a few other entries and was trying to use the headings they used. I will modify, reduce, etc.. Is it appropriate to do so now, or should I wait to hear back from the formal application?

Request reason:

I must say I am a bit mystified by this blocking. I finally bit the bullet and tried to contribute to this forum. Before being blocked I began making various edits to several art-related entries which had errors, none of which were an attempt by me to promote these individuals or gain any type of financial privilege (I am happily retired and no longer in need of such concerns). Similarly, to assert that I am some type of corporation similarly couldn't be farther from the truth. I began with minor edits, trying to understand the conventions of entries. I next took a stab at creating my first entry and was met with being tagged as a corporation or some type of promoter, being told that my first major effort was not of encyclopedic caliber. I am a promoter, consumer, and student of good art, but have not been formerly affiliated with Mr. Sumner (the subject of the entry that triggered this issue) for nearly 20 years. Again, my nom de plume was a reference to my experience in art, incorrectly red as a corporation. I believe this is a much more honest presentation of my credentials that most of the names of editors I see on your encyclopedia. Indeed, serious art entries needs more users who know something about it, not self-styled folks who wish they had actual insights or perspectives or actual referenced statements (as opposed to internal wiki links). Quite honestly, I know much more than the average editor of your modern art entries, by the looks of things. I would respectfully request that my erroneous block be removed and that my user name be changed in response to your misplaced concern. Thank you for considering my request.

A couple of notes: our policy is against user names that appear to represent organisations, and there appear to be quite a few 'Swanson Galleries' around. Secondly, this isn't a forum. It's an encyclopaedia where information is expected to be verifiable. The greatest expert in the world still needs to source his/her edits to reliable independent sources. Personal knowledge that's not independently verifiable isn't allowed, and nor is personal opinion (in articles, that is - on the boards for policy setting and management, opinion is allowable).
